  • Please don’t waste your time with this law firm. After calling them and wasting my limited time close to the 60 day appeal dead line I was told by Carlis who by the way I had to reach out to her on the day of my call appt because she did not have me on her schedule, that she can not help me because I was really close to the deadline. Mind you I called February 6th got an appt for the following week on the 12th and I got to speak with her because I reached out. To make the story short while speaking with her she was very negative in other words like refusing in taking the case putting a lot of obstacles in the way. After almost an hour of speaking to her she agreed on receiving my sons IEP by email and agreed to call me back the next day in which she did but to only tell me that the date dead line was cutting to short for her to take the case mind you Social Security Disability gives you an additional 5 days after the deadline. There was more than enough time to have me sign and interview me within the 5 days remaining . She was very unprofessional and just hung up and didn’t let me finish talking to her. The next day I called to complain in how unprofessional she was and it comes out that the receptionist isn’t any better because after she explained to me the reason why they couldn’t take the case and it was my turn to speak she was very rude and unprofessional that she didn’t let me speak and also hung up the phone. Wow and this is how they help people with disabilities? These people are very unprofessional and time wasting. It’s a shame because I was referred by a good person who was helped by a lawyer by the name of Jennifer who in my understanding really cared and helped people. I wish I can find out where she works maybe she could reffer me to someone who is willing to help my son and I. Don’t waste your time with these people !
  • Trust the negative reviews. This law firm will do the bare minimum for you and then give up if they don’t think they’ll get their paycheck. Unless you think you have a slam dunk case, don’t bother with these people, because they’ll expect payment if you win the case for yourself.
  • Carlissa Prettyman, Esq. is terrific for handling disability claims! Not only does she provide competent representation, she is also compassionate and empathetic!
  • I called this firm after my receiving a letter that my case was denied. The first person I encountered, Adam, was excellent. He was informed, thorough, kind and spent about an hour gathering information for my consultation, which was scheduled for today. My consultation with attorney, Mrs. Prettiman was an underwhelming experience to say the least. She spent less than 10 minutes, requested me to read the last portion of my denial letter and told me the date I was last insured was 6 years ago, which I asked her about because it’s unclear how that date was determined in the first place, but received no explanation, however this seemed to be the deterrent. She requested no additional information beyond asking if I had been hospitalized for my condition. Upon hearing no, she determined and stated that my case may possibly get approved upon appeal but would be difficult and therefore she would not be taking my case. I pushed back explaining that I had extremely thorough medical documentation. She was very dismissive and seemed distracted the entire time. I’m still confused and frankly extremely disappointed. This is extremely invalidating for anyone in this position. Comments regarding the response from this law office: Thank you for responding. However, I’m not sure why details about my case and my life are a part of your public response and I find it a bit unsettling. Furthermore, the primary issue in my review had little to do with the reasons why she did not decide to take my case. My issue was with her being dismissive and seemingly unprepared and preoccupied. My comments were not aimed at the character of Mrs Prettyman nor her competence as an attorney. It was about my experience during our interaction and the way the information was collected and conveyed. I also noted the stark contrast in the experience with the first person I spoke with from your firm in the original review. The purpose of sharing my experience in my review is to emphasize the human aspect. This entire process can be scary and difficult to navigate. I do not believe it was intentional, but it was dismissive and a bit frustrating.
  • Biggest mistake of my life Just finished my very long disability case with this law firm an I was represented by Mathew cantwell. I am disabled an in severe pain an I'm getting $40 Xtra a week. WOW! I have 8 herniated disc, spinal stenosis, nerve damage, an a titanium plate in my neck. Severe migraines from the plate. I can't turn my head all the way, yet I was awarded for a sore knee, go figure🤔 Very disappointed an totally disgusted how my case was handled. My attorney never defended me to the judge at my hearing . He hardly said anything to the judge as she told me how I was not disabled. He agreed with everything she said an he told me not to say anything. I was a fool to do this. I can't drive, hardly do anything. To me, I lost this case. Hardly ever heard from my attorney. Phone receptionist had the personality of a wet mop. Do yourself a big favor an find a disability firm that works for you, not the system. P.S Please don't reply an try to rectify what should have been or to tell me how wrong I am, I wasn't the attorney, I was the client. Josephine V.

For those in Paramus, New Jersey, considering the Law Offices of Barbara B. Comerford, located at 45 Eisenhower Dr #110, it is crucial to carefully review the available client feedback before making a decision. The online reviews present a concerning picture of the firm's professionalism and client service, particularly regarding individuals seeking assistance with Social Security Disability appeals.

The Law Offices of Barbara B. Comerford are situated on Eisenhower Drive in Paramus, New Jersey. While the physical environment of a law office can often contribute to a client's comfort and confidence, the available reviews focus heavily on the interactions with the staff and the perceived quality of service rather than the physical premises. Therefore, while the office is located in a professional building, the client experiences described online should be the primary consideration for potential clients.

The Law Offices of Barbara B. Comerford can be contacted by phone at (201) 444-4493 or via their mobile number, +1 201-444-4493. While these contact numbers provide a means to reach the firm, it is important for potential clients to be aware of the communication issues and unprofessional conduct reported in the online reviews when engaging with this office.

The available client reviews for the Law Offices of Barbara B. Comerford paint a troubling picture of the firm's client service and professionalism. One detailed review recounts a negative experience involving a time-sensitive Social Security Disability appeal. The reviewer described calling the firm well within the 60-day appeal deadline, only to face significant obstacles and ultimately be turned away due to the perceived proximity to the deadline. The reviewer specifically mentioned a staff member named Carlis, with whom they had scheduling issues and who allegedly exhibited a negative attitude towards taking the case. Despite the reviewer's efforts to provide necessary information, including their son's IEP, and the fact that Social Security Disability often allows an additional five days after the deadline, Carlis reportedly declined the case, citing insufficient time. The reviewer further alleged that Carlis was unprofessional and abruptly ended the call.

Adding to these serious concerns, the reviewer also detailed a subsequent negative interaction with the receptionist when calling to complain about the unprofessionalism. According to the review, the receptionist was also rude and hung up on the reviewer, preventing them from expressing their concerns fully. The reviewer expressed disappointment and questioned how a firm treating people with disabilities in this manner could be helpful. They contrasted this experience with a positive referral they had received for a different lawyer, Jennifer, who they understood genuinely cared for and helped people, expressing a wish to locate her instead. The reviewer concluded with a strong warning against wasting time with the Law Offices of Barbara B. Comerford.

Another review reinforces these negative sentiments, advising potential clients to "Trust the negative reviews." This reviewer alleges that the firm provides the "bare minimum" service and is quick to give up if they do not foresee a guaranteed payment. They caution against engaging the firm unless one believes they have an exceptionally strong case, as the firm reportedly expects payment even if the client ultimately wins their case independently. This review suggests a lack of commitment to clients who may face challenging legal battles and raises concerns about the firm's motivation and client advocacy.

Based on these two critical client reviews, several concerning features emerge regarding the Law Offices of Barbara B. Comerford. These include allegations of unprofessional conduct by staff members, including rudeness and abruptly ending calls; a perceived reluctance to take on cases that are not considered "slam dunks"; a potential lack of understanding or adherence to procedural timelines (as suggested by the discrepancy regarding the Social Security Disability appeal deadline); and a general impression of a firm that may not prioritize the needs and circumstances of individuals seeking their help, particularly those with disabilities or complex cases.

For local users in Paramus, NJ, who are seeking legal assistance, particularly in sensitive areas like Social Security Disability appeals or other matters where they may be facing significant challenges, the feedback regarding the Law Offices of Barbara B. Comerford should be carefully considered. The reviews raise serious concerns about the level of professionalism, the commitment to client service, and the overall experience of working with this firm. Potential clients should weigh these negative experiences against their own needs and expectations for legal representation.

Given the overwhelmingly negative tone and the specific allegations of unprofessional behavior and a lack of willingness to help clients facing deadlines or complex cases, it is difficult to identify any positive promotional aspects based on the available information. Instead, the reviews serve as a cautionary tale for those seeking legal assistance in the Paramus area. The stark contrast with the positive referral for another lawyer highlights the importance of finding legal representation that is both competent and genuinely caring.

In conclusion, while the Law Offices of Barbara B. Comerford are located on Eisenhower Drive in Paramus, NJ, the online reviews from real customers present significant concerns regarding their professionalism, client service, and commitment to helping individuals, particularly those with disabilities or time-sensitive legal matters. Potential clients are strongly advised to carefully consider this feedback and potentially seek legal representation elsewhere to ensure they receive the competent, respectful, and dedicated service they deserve. The experiences shared by these reviewers suggest that engaging with this firm may result in wasted time and further frustration, especially for those navigating challenging legal circumstances within our "Nearby Lawyers" category in Paramus, NJ.
