  • Beware of Mr. Goode and his retainer agreements! Also be aware that Mr. Goode has had his lawyer license suspended numerous times. Promises a lot and gets absolutely nothing done. Does not return phone calls or emails. Paid Mr. Goode a flat rate retainer of $150,000.00 and did not do absolutely nothing. When Mr. Goode does return phone calls it's very short and ends with "will call you right back" but never does.
  • I was hit by a young man several years ago and both of my legs were broken. Mr. Goode was the attorney in charge of filing against the vehicular insurance policy as well as the secondary insurance policy for lost wages. He held on to the settlement money for close to four months after it was settled. I finally found out that the settlement had actually been reached, via the medical professionals who had liens for care I received as a result of my injuries, not Mr. Goode. He never returned several hundred phone calls I made after he finally did send me my settlement money as to what the settlement was for the second policy. Somehow, Mr. Goode did not ever manage to contact me about what that settlement was. To this day, I have never heard a word. I even reported to the attorney disciplinary board, to find there were already 9 complaints ahead of me. I would not recommend Mr. Goode to walk my dog, because he would only go half way around the block and not return with the dog. I would not recommend him and can’t believe he is still a lawyer.

  • I humbly like to express my feelings about an attorney Mr. Michael C. Goode who helped me in a major federal lawsuit. I was indicted in a major mortgage fraud case in Chicago back in 2013. Mr. Goode represented me as my defense attorney. Right from the beginning, Mr. Goode figured out my involvement in the scheme and told me if we lose, I'm looking at 87 months of jail time, but I will try my best to reduce it to minimal. He researched and researched the entire case and fought it for 7.5 years. During these 7.5 years, he kept me away from the courtroom with the exception of 3 times. Finally, the sentencing day came. This was the first time I saw Mike in action. In a nutshell, the way he presented my side of the story in front of the federal judge, superseded all the arguments made by the government's attorney. Finally, a final verdict time came. we all stood up and the honorable judge gave his decision. " I just became a totally free man!!!" Not even a probation period !!! Neither this portal has enough space nor I have words to express my feelings and gratitude for Mr. Goode. My entire family is indebted to Mr. Goode due to his selfless efforts, knowledge, experience, kindness, and generosity that helped me gain back my self-esteem and allowed me to walk in society again with a raised head. If anyone is in any situation that requires a criminal defense, Michael Charles Goode is your best bet for a "Second Chance".

  • Mike Goode is the most experienced and capable attorney I’ve ever met. He helped a family member of mine who was critically injured in by a drunk driver and he came through in a big way. I’ll admit he was hard to reach at times but I believe it was because he was so busy doing the much needed due diligence required to achieve the greatest outcomes for his clients. My family and I couldn’t be more grateful for him and his team!

  • After giving up on the legal system, I found Michael Goode, one of the best attorneys I have encountered: knows the law, does extensive researching, is compassionate and very hard working. My case was a five-year divorce where life insurance was an issue. My previous attorneys did a horrible job but then Mr. Goode stepped in and we won!!!!

About Law Office of Michael C Goode

In the "Nearby Lawyers" platform category, where local users seek reliable and effective legal representation, the Law Office of Michael C Goode is listed with an address at 221 N LaSalle St, Chicago, IL 60601, USA. This location is within Chicago's central business district, a common area for legal practices, suggesting a professional environment typically associated with law firms.

Based on the provided customer reviews, potential clients should be aware of significant concerns regarding the services, features, and overall professional conduct associated with the Law Office of Michael C Goode. These reviews offer a stark perspective on client experiences, highlighting several critical issues that warrant careful consideration for anyone seeking legal assistance through the "Nearby Lawyers" platform.

Regarding the services and features, the reviews indicate that clients have engaged Mr. Goode for serious personal injury matters, specifically a vehicular accident resulting in broken legs and a claim for lost wages, as well as other unspecified legal matters. In these instances, clients expected professional representation and timely resolution. However, the reported experiences suggest a significant deviation from expected standards of service delivery.

One primary concern repeatedly raised is the apparent lack of communication. Clients state, "Does not return phone calls or emails" and "He never returned several hundred phone calls I made." When phone calls were reportedly returned, they were described as "very short and ends with 'will call you right back' but never does." This consistent failure to communicate effectively is a critical issue in legal representation, as clients depend on their attorney to keep them informed about the progress of their case, explain legal processes, and respond to inquiries. The absence of such communication can lead to significant client distress, uncertainty, and perceived neglect of their legal matters.

Another profound concern highlighted by the reviews pertains to the handling of retainer agreements and actual work performed. One client explicitly states, "Paid Mr. Goode a flat rate retainer of $150,000.00 and did not do absolutely nothing." This accusation of receiving a substantial payment without delivering the promised legal services is extremely serious and directly impacts the integrity of the firm's operations and the value proposition for potential clients. Such an allegation, if substantiated, points to a severe breach of professional duty and ethical conduct.

Furthermore, the reviews point to alleged issues with the handling of settlement money. In one case, a client reported that Mr. Goode "held on to the settlement money for close to four months after it was settled." The client also discovered the settlement had been reached through medical professionals, not Mr. Goode, and that Mr. Goode allegedly "did not ever manage to contact me about what that settlement was" for a secondary policy, with the client never hearing a word to this day. The holding of settlement funds without proper and timely disbursement, and lack of communication about final settlement details, raises serious questions about fiduciary responsibility and transparency.

Perhaps the most alarming feature brought to light by the reviews is the reported history of disciplinary action against Mr. Goode's law license. One client explicitly states, "Beware that Mr. Goode has had his lawyer license suspended numerous times." This is corroborated by the client's experience of reporting to the attorney disciplinary board and finding "there were already 9 complaints ahead of me." A history of license suspensions and multiple complaints with a disciplinary board indicates a pattern of professional misconduct that is highly relevant for any user considering legal services from this firm. Attorney disciplinary boards investigate allegations of ethical violations and professional negligence, and repeated suspensions suggest serious breaches of legal ethics and standards of practice. The sentiment "I can’t believe he is still a lawyer" reflects the profound disillusionment and concern experienced by former clients.

In terms of promotional information, while law firms typically highlight their successes, expertise, and client satisfaction, the provided reviews offer a distinctly negative and cautionary perspective. Instead of positive testimonials, these reviews serve as strong warnings. The phrase "Beware of Mr. Goode and his retainer agreements!" is a direct advisory to potential clients. The strong negative recommendation, "I would not recommend Mr. Goode to walk my dog, because he would only go half way around the block and not return with the dog. I would not recommend him," underscores extreme dissatisfaction and a complete lack of trust. This information, while not promotional in the traditional sense, serves as critical "consumer information" for users of the "Nearby Lawyers" platform. It provides insights into actual client experiences that directly contradict the expectation of reliable and effective legal service.

The environment of the Law Office of Michael C Goode, being situated in a prominent Chicago address at 221 N LaSalle St, typically implies a professional setup. However, the operational environment, as depicted by client experiences, suggests severe deficiencies in client service management and professional conduct. While the physical office may appear professional, the quality of service reportedly falls short of the standards expected from a legal practice.

In summary, for users searching for a "Nearby Lawyer" in Chicago, IL, an objective review of the Law Office of Michael C Goode, based on available customer feedback, reveals significant red flags. The pervasive issues include severe communication breakdowns, alleged non-performance of duties after receiving substantial payment, questionable handling of settlement funds, and a reported history of multiple license suspensions and numerous disciplinary complaints. While the firm's address and contact numbers (phone: (312) 541-1331, mobile: +1 312-541-1331) are publicly available, potential clients are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and conduct thorough due diligence, including verifying current license status and disciplinary history with the appropriate bar associations, before considering engagement with this legal office.
