  • Note not for unit owners. Told me to move out even though I was the victim along with another woman of harassment and bullying and plenty of evidence of breaches of fiduciary duties. Unit owners do not have the bucks that hoas do. Not worth their time. Two of us filed a complaint with HUD.
  • A sincerely listening lawyer with a heart. Mrs. Debelle is very knowledgeable about employment law including unemployment hearings at the IDES.
  • I came to Ms. DeBelle for some issues related on a personal matter. In the end, I wasn’t in need of an attorney but definitely would’ve hired her if I needed a lawyer to help with my legal matter. She was able to provide with some advice that really helped improve my situation.
  • Denise DeBelle helped me immensely with concerns and questions around unemployment. She is kind, smart and honest. I appreciate her and the help she offered me.

About Law Office of Denise M. DeBelle

Within the diverse legal landscape of Chicago, Illinois, the Law Office of Denise M. DeBelle operates as a specialized legal practice within the "Nearby Lawyers" category. Located at 5555 N Sheridan Rd Suite 4, Chicago, IL 60645, USA, the firm provides legal services primarily focused on employment law and dispute resolution. While positioned as a legal firm within the "Nearby Lawyers" category, it is important to note that the provided information does not describe a condominium complex but rather a legal office. Therefore, this introduction will focus on the law office's services, environment, features, and relevant promotional aspects as a legal service provider.

The environment at the Law Office of Denise M. DeBelle is described as one where clients feel genuinely heard and understood. One review highlights Denise M. DeBelle as "a sincerely listening lawyer with a heart," emphasizing her compassionate approach to legal counsel. This suggests a supportive and empathetic atmosphere, crucial for clients who may be navigating sensitive or distressing legal situations, particularly in employment disputes where emotional factors are often significant. The firm strives to ensure clients feel comfortable and confident in discussing their concerns, knowing they have a lawyer who genuinely cares about their well-being.

Based on the client testimonials, the core services and key features of the Law Office of Denise M. DeBelle primarily revolve around employment law and related disputes:

  • Employment Law Expertise: Denise M. DeBelle is consistently praised for being "very knowledgeable about employment law." This is her primary area of recognized expertise. Employment law is a broad field covering issues such as wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment (including sexual harassment and workplace bullying), wage disputes, and retaliation. Clients facing challenges in their workplace would likely find her office a valuable resource.

  • Unemployment Hearings (IDES): A specific strength highlighted is her knowledge of "unemployment hearings at the IDES" (Illinois Department of Employment Security). This indicates her proficiency in assisting individuals who have been denied unemployment benefits or are facing disputes related to their unemployment claims. Her guidance in this area can be critical for individuals facing financial hardship after job loss.

  • Compassionate Listening: The description of Denise M. DeBelle as a "sincerely listening lawyer with a heart" is a significant feature. This suggests that she takes the time to truly understand her clients' situations, concerns, and objectives, offering not just legal advice but also empathetic support during difficult times. This human element is highly valued by clients seeking legal assistance.

  • Focus on Employee Rights: While not explicitly stated, the context of "harassment and bullying" and "breaches of fiduciary duties" (in the context of homeowner associations, which are often employer-like entities for management) suggests a leaning towards advocating for individuals who feel victimized or wronged in a power imbalance situation. This aligns with a practice dedicated to protecting employee rights against potential abuses by employers or governing bodies.

It is crucial to address the specific nuance presented in one of the reviews: "Note not for unit owners. Told me to move out even though I was the victim along with another woman of harassment and bullying and plenty of evidence of breaches of fiduciary duties. Unit owners do not have the bucks that hoas do. Not worth their time. Two of us filed a complaint with HUD." This review indicates a potential limitation or specific focus of the firm's practice. While the client was experiencing harassment and bullying, which often falls under the umbrella of employment law (if related to a workplace) or fair housing/discrimination, the attorney's advice to "move out" and the client's perception that their case was "not worth their time" due to a power imbalance with "HOAs" (Homeowners Associations) and lack of financial resources, suggests that Ms. DeBelle's practice might primarily represent employees or individuals against larger entities (like employers or, by extension, HOAs in certain capacities) where there's a clearer legal framework for monetary recovery or where the firm chooses to allocate its resources. This feedback implies that while she may be knowledgeable about employment law, she may not specialize in or accept all types of homeowner disputes, especially if they involve complex, costly litigation against well-funded HOAs, or if the claim doesn't align with her specific areas of focus or client intake criteria. It's also possible that her advice was based on a realistic assessment of the legal and financial viability of the case from the perspective of an individual unit owner versus an HOA.

Therefore, while the firm is knowledgeable in employment law, particularly unemployment hearings, potential clients should understand that their practice may have specific criteria for accepting cases, and it may not be geared towards representing individual unit owners in certain types of disputes with HOAs, especially those requiring extensive litigation or where the financial stakes for the individual are lower than for the association. This does not detract from her expertise in employment law but clarifies her potential focus areas.

Promotional information for the Law Office of Denise M. DeBelle would highlight her compassionate approach and strong knowledge in employment law, particularly her ability to assist with unemployment hearings. The firm would emphasize its dedication to listening to clients' needs and providing empathetic, knowledgeable legal counsel. The testimonials affirming her "heart" and expertise would be key. Prospective clients seeking assistance with workplace harassment, bullying, discrimination, or unemployment benefit claims would be encouraged to contact the office. The phone numbers, (773) 728-0136 and +1 773-728-0136, and the address, 5555 N Sheridan Rd Suite 4, Chicago, IL 60645, USA, would be prominently displayed, inviting individuals in Chicago to seek a "Nearby Lawyer" who combines legal knowledge with genuine care, especially in employment-related matters.
