The provided information includes the firm's location and contact details, along with contrasting feedback from individuals who have interacted with their services, offering a nuanced perspective for local users seeking legal representation.
The "environment" of Lavery, Selvaggi & Cohen, P.C., situated on County Road 517 in Hackettstown, likely provides a professional office setting typical of a law firm serving its community. While specific details about the office's internal ambiance are not available, it is reasonable to expect a space equipped for client consultations, legal research, and administrative operations. The Hackettstown location offers accessibility for residents and businesses in the area seeking local legal counsel. However, the significant ethical concerns raised in one of the reviews regarding the firm's conduct in relation to property rights and governmental work should be a crucial consideration for potential clients when evaluating the overall service environment and the firm's operational ethics.
The specific "services" offered by Lavery, Selvaggi & Cohen, P.C. are not explicitly detailed in the prompt. However, based on the nature of the reviews, we can infer that the firm engages in property law, potentially including easements and work related to local government projects. One review mentions their claimed expertise in areas related to Constitutional and Civil rights law, as well as laws regarding eminent domain and inverse condemnation. Additionally, the positive review indicates experience with zoning issues. It is plausible that Lavery, Selvaggi & Cohen, P.C. offers a broader range of legal services to cater to the diverse needs of their clientele in Hackettstown and beyond. These services could include real estate transactions, estate planning, business law, and other areas of civil law. However, given the serious allegations in one review, potential clients should specifically inquire about the firm's expertise in their area of need and carefully consider the reported ethical concerns.
The "features" of Lavery, Selvaggi & Cohen, P.C. include its established presence in Hackettstown, making it a geographically convenient option for local residents and businesses. The provision of both a main phone line and a mobile phone number suggests accessibility for communication. However, the contrasting client experiences highlight both potential strengths and significant weaknesses. One positive feature appears to be a willingness to prioritize the client's best interest over immediate financial gain, as evidenced by the attorney who advised a potential client to handle a zoning issue independently. Conversely, a significant negative feature, as alleged in another review, is a lack of ethical conduct, including altering property without permission and potentially benefiting from the resulting issues without attempting to remedy them. This serious accusation raises concerns about the firm's commitment to client rights and ethical practices.
The provided customer reviews offer starkly contrasting perspectives, presenting a complex picture for potential clients. One review serves as a highly negative piece of "promotional information," alleging serious ethical violations, including unauthorized alteration of property, disregard for property rights, and a failure to rectify resulting damage over an extended period. The reviewer also questions the firm's advertised ethics based on their actions. This account constitutes a significant warning for local users considering Lavery, Selvaggi & Cohen, P.C. On the other hand, a separate review offers positive feedback, highlighting an attorney's honesty and integrity in advising a potential client against unnecessary legal fees. This suggests that individual attorneys within the firm may operate with different approaches to client service and ethics. The third review expresses a positive future intention to use the firm's services based on the helpful initial interaction. Therefore, the promotional landscape for Lavery, Selvaggi & Cohen, P.C. is mixed, with serious ethical allegations coexisting with instances of client-focused service.
For local users browsing the 'Nearby Lawyers' category in Hackettstown, New Jersey, Lavery, Selvaggi & Cohen, P.C., located on County Road 517, offers a geographically accessible legal option. The phone numbers, (908) 852-2600 and +1 908-852-2600, provide contact information for inquiries. However, potential clients must carefully consider the significant ethical concerns raised in one of the customer reviews alongside the positive feedback regarding honesty and helpfulness in a different instance. A thorough investigation, including seeking additional reviews and potentially consulting with other legal professionals, would be a prudent step before engaging this firm's services.
The stark contrast in client experiences suggests a potential inconsistency in the firm's practices or the conduct of individual attorneys within the firm. The serious allegations of property rights violations and unethical behavior should not be taken lightly and warrant careful consideration. While the positive feedback regarding zoning advice indicates a capacity for ethical and helpful service, the negative account raises fundamental questions about the firm's overall commitment to ethical conduct and client rights. Local users must weigh these conflicting reports carefully in their decision-making process.
In conclusion, Lavery, Selvaggi & Cohen, P.C., located in Hackettstown, New Jersey, presents a complex profile for potential local users in the 'Nearby Lawyers' category. While geographically convenient, the firm has received both positive feedback regarding honesty and helpfulness, as well as a serious allegation of unethical conduct involving property rights and governmental work. Local users are strongly advised to conduct thorough due diligence, consider the ethical concerns raised, and seek further information before deciding to engage the services of Lavery, Selvaggi & Cohen, P.C.

An attorney in this firm worked directly with Cherry-Weber surveyors to alter our property (easement) without our knowledge or permission when working for local government to preserve our neighbor’s property. To my understanding, failure to obtain our permission when altering our property for public use violates Constitutional and Civil rights law, and laws regarding eminent domain and inverse condemnation. They brag about their expertise in this area so I am sure they are aware of their violations. We have been trying to fix this mess and the extreme damage this has caused us for 12 years because of significant safety issues that need to be addressed. Thus far, the firm has made no effort to try to remedy the situation even though they could probably do so with a few phone calls. Not only has the firm failed to help, but they have benefitted by getting additional assignments as a result. Ethics are not defined by words but by actions. I have a hard time reconciling their actions in this matter with the ethics claims in their website.
Returned my call regarding a zoning issue. Took the time to explain the process to me and then convinced me that I should not give them my money, but, instead, do it myself. Then offered to help me if I get stuck at any point in the process. Could have easily went the other way and had me give him a couple thousand dollars, but chose not to. If I need an attorney in the future, they will definitely be my first call.
If I could give them negative stars, I would. It is unconscionable that an attorney's office is completely unavailable for their buyer client on the day of closing. Their buyer needed them and they were unavailable. I am absolutely disgusted with this firm and will ensure that my clients NEVER hire them ever again! Truly incompetent and completely uncaring and unprofessional. This is the grossest negligence I've ever seen from a real estate attorney. It's absolutely abhorrent.
I've had the pleasure to work with several different lawyers from this highly professional firm and each and every one of them was brilliant in their own right as well as patient and tactful in their handling of my case. Quality service of this caliber is not easy to find anywhere - I would absolutely recommend them
I’ve dealt with many law firms in my life and this is, by far, the best. I’ve recently used this firm for power of attorney, my will and real estate and their knowledge of the law is second to none. I’ve dealt with Mike Selvaggi & Kate and Wendy & they’re a pleasure, AND they return phone calls! Everyone there is polite & courteous and there rates are the best. Five stars isn’t enough.
