Information regarding the specific office environment of Welch, Bruun & Green is not detailed in the provided reviews. However, law firms typically maintain professional office spaces to conduct client meetings, legal research, and administrative tasks. Clients can likely expect a standard legal office setting that ensures confidentiality and provides a space for effective communication with their attorney. The South Macadam Avenue location in Portland suggests accessibility for clients in the area.

Based on the available customer reviews, Kelly Spencer's primary area of specialization appears to be workers' compensation law in Oregon. This involves representing employees who have sustained injuries or illnesses as a result of their work. The services typically provided in this area include:

  • Case Evaluation: Assessing the merits of a potential workers' compensation claim.
  • Filing Claims: Assisting clients with the initial application process for work comp benefits.
  • Communication with Insurers: Acting as a liaison between the client and the insurance company handling the claim.
  • Benefit Advocacy: Ensuring clients receive appropriate medical benefits, lost wage compensation, and other entitled benefits.
  • Settlement Negotiations: Representing clients in negotiations to reach a fair settlement for their work-related injuries.
  • Appeals: Assisting clients with the appeals process if their initial claim is denied or if they disagree with the benefits offered.
  • Representation in Hearings: Providing legal representation at hearings or other legal proceedings related to the work comp case.

The provided customer reviews offer contrasting perspectives on the features and effectiveness of Kelly Spencer's legal representation. One reviewer expresses extreme dissatisfaction, citing several significant issues:

  • Lack of Communication: Allegations of unanswered calls and prolonged delays in receiving updates on the case progress.
  • Failure to Advise on Legal Ramifications: A claim that Mr. Spencer did not adequately explain the potential impact of settling the work comp case on a separate wrongful termination case, allegedly leading to a detrimental outcome for the client.
  • mismanagement of Settlement Funds: An accusation of allowing double payment of medical bills and a prolonged, unsuccessful effort to retrieve the overpaid amount, coupled with continued lack of communication.
  • Overall Negative Experience: The reviewer strongly advises against hiring Mr. Spencer, citing incompetence and a lack of care for the client's case and financial interests, and mentions filing a complaint with the Oregon State Bar Association.

Conversely, the second reviewer provides a highly positive account of their experience with Mr. Spencer:

  • Accessibility and Responsiveness: Praises Mr. Spencer for being readily available to answer questions, typically within an hour of contact.
  • Proactive Communication: Highlights that Mr. Spencer consistently kept the client updated on all new information related to their case.
  • Handling Administrative Burdens: Notes that Mr. Spencer managed aspects of the case that would have been stressful for the client to handle directly.
  • Ensuring Benefits and Treatment: Commends Mr. Spencer for ensuring the client received timely medical care, reimbursements, and other benefits.
  • Successful Settlement: Reports that Mr. Spencer fought for and achieved a settlement offer that was considered more than fair and well above the national average.
  • High Satisfaction and Recommendation: The reviewer expresses 100% satisfaction and strongly recommends Mr. Spencer and his firm.

Given these starkly contrasting reviews, it is challenging to identify definitive features of Kelly Spencer's practice. Potential clients face a situation where one individual reports significant failures in representation, while another describes excellent service and positive outcomes. This discrepancy underscores the importance of considering all available feedback and potentially seeking additional information or consultations before making a decision.

There is no promotional information provided in the reviews. Law firms sometimes offer free initial consultations to potential clients, but this is not mentioned in the given feedback. The positive review could be seen as a form of promotion, highlighting successful outcomes and client satisfaction. However, the negative review strongly counteracts this, suggesting that experiences may vary significantly.

For local users in Portland seeking a work comp attorney, Kelly Spencer at Welch, Bruun & Green presents a complex picture based on the available reviews. The positive review suggests a competent and dedicated attorney who achieves favorable results and provides excellent client service. However, the negative review raises serious concerns about communication, advice, and case management. Potential clients should carefully consider both perspectives and conduct further research, such as seeking additional reviews or requesting a consultation, to form their own informed opinion. The mention of a complaint filed with the Oregon State Bar Association by one reviewer is a particularly serious point that prospective clients may want to consider in their evaluation process.

In conclusion, Kelly Spencer, a work comp attorney at Welch, Bruun & Green in Portland, OR, has received highly divergent feedback from two clients. One client praises his accessibility, communication, and successful settlement, while the other reports significant issues with communication, advice, and handling of settlement funds, leading to a strong recommendation against hiring him and the filing of a bar complaint. Local users seeking a work comp lawyer in Portland should carefully weigh these contrasting experiences and conduct thorough due diligence before deciding whether to retain Mr. Spencer's services. It is advisable to seek multiple sources of information and potentially consult with other attorneys to ensure they find representation that aligns with their needs and expectations.

Spencer Kelly - Work Comp Attorney @ Welch, Bruun & Green. I hired Spencer Kelly in 2023 for a work comp case after getting hurt on the job and being wrongfully terminated immediately after reporting my injury. Spencer had mostly good reviews and after our initial meeting seemed competent. To keep this review as short as possible I will simply list the ways he failed to provide me with good or even adequate representation. 1) Countless times Spencer just left me hanging in regards to my case progress by not only not taking my calls but even more so he would not call me back until I had left numerous messages and weeks had passed. 2) He failed to tell me until day of signing settlement agreement that by pursuing and settling this work comp case that I would not be able to move forward with my other case for wrongful termination which would be a substantial amount more than a work comp case. Had I known that 6 months prior I would have settled wrongful termination case first then pursued this case. 3) He allowed attorneys to double pay my medical bills out of my settlement amount and over a year later STILL has not retrieved the $4k-$7k I am owed. I continue to call him and he has every excuse in the book as to why he is still trying to retrieve my money yet hasn’t been able to do so as of yet. Then assures me he is “on it” and will be keeping me updated soon. Yet again he doesn’t call me nor have I received the money he overpaid my medical bills and he doesn’t take my calls . DO NOT HIRE SPENCER KELLY is my advice to anyone that is wanting a top tier attorney that represents you to full capacity and cares about your case and your money . In my experience Spencer Kelly does not care and has not been competent in representing me. NOTE: I also filed a complaint with the Oregon State Bar Association. THE WORST EXPERIENCE I’VE EVER HAD WITH AN ATTORNEY!

Mr. Kelly was my worker’s comp attorney. I was injured a year ago this month and my case was a little complicated. I was working in Oregon, but a Cali resident and during my injury I was also fired as retaliation. Over the course of the year Spencer was always available to answer questions, usually within an hour of the email or phone call, he kept me updated with every piece of information he found out, and handled the items that I didn’t really need to stress about. He made sure I was getting all my benefits, reimbursements and dr/specialist/treatments in a very quick timeframe the end he fought to get me a more then fair settlement offer for my injury, from what I can tell well above the national average according to google. I am now healed and able to close this chapter of my life feeling 100% satisfied. I can’t not recommend Spencer Kelly at Welch, Bruun & Green enough!!! 10/10 stars! I will recommend him and his firm to any friends or family I know in this type of situation.

Very caring & helped me get a settlement from my ex-employer. I was injured while on the job, & my employer denied my workers comp claim. Mr. Spencer got me a decent, if not large, settlement. Process did take about 6-7 months. I would say he's a very capable, knowledgeable, Worker's Comp lawyer.

I brought a dog bite case to Mr. Kelly 2 years ago this month, 2 years. I was told they were asking $25,000. He stated he never has had a judge lower the amount, well it was lowered to $10,000 with no explanation as to why. Now, he has to hire an outside agency to try and collect the money, he has spent over $1,000 in the process. I'll never see a penny, please, find a different lawyer, one who cares.
