John Terry, Attorney at Law Introduce
Welcome to our platform for Nearby Lawyers. For individuals in Vancouver, Washington, seeking legal representation, it is essential to consider various factors, including the experiences of past clients. We are presenting an introduction to John Terry, Attorney at Law, located at 2220 H St in Vancouver. The available online reviews offer contrasting perspectives on his legal services, particularly in the context of restraining order cases and as a court-appointed attorney. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on this feedback, allowing potential clients to consider these experiences as part of their decision-making process.
Information regarding the office environment of John Terry, Attorney at Law is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. However, one client's description of Mr. Terry as "easy to contact" and "easygoing" suggests a potentially approachable and relaxed demeanor. This might indicate a less formal office setting, but without further information, it is difficult to draw definitive conclusions about the overall environment of his practice.
The client reviews offer insights into at least one specific area of legal service provided by John Terry: representation in restraining order cases. One client who was the respondent in a temporary restraining order case reported a positive experience. They highlighted Mr. Terry's reassurance during an anxious time, his accessibility for questions and concerns, and his timely filing of documents, which ultimately led to the case being dismissed with prejudice. This suggests competence and effectiveness in handling restraining order defense cases, particularly in navigating the anxieties and procedural requirements involved.
However, a contrasting experience was shared by a different individual who was appointed Mr. Terry as their court-appointed attorney. This client reported a complete lack of communication throughout the three-month duration of their case, despite numerous attempts to make contact. They also stated that Mr. Terry pushed for trial without any prior discussion or investigation. This individual expressed significant dissatisfaction, noting that they only learned about their charges being dropped through a consultation with a new attorney, implying a lack of advocacy from Mr. Terry. They strongly advised against using him as a court-appointed attorney and recommended seeking alternative representation.
These two reviews present a stark contrast in client experiences. One highlights reassurance, accessibility, and a successful outcome in a restraining order case, while the other describes a complete lack of communication and advocacy in a case where Mr. Terry was court-appointed. This discrepancy suggests that the quality of representation may vary depending on the circumstances of the case or the nature of the attorney-client relationship.
Features of John Terry's practice, as perceived by one satisfied client, include being reassuring, easy to contact, easygoing in the face of client anxiety, and effective in filing documents and achieving a dismissal with prejudice in a restraining order case. However, the negative review paints a different picture, suggesting a lack of communication, failure to investigate, and a lack of advocacy when serving as a court-appointed attorney.
Promotional information is limited based on these reviews. The positive review serves as a testimonial recommending Mr. Terry for restraining order hearings. However, the negative review actively discourages potential clients, particularly those who might be assigned him as a court-appointed attorney, from utilizing his services. In the absence of any proactive promotional statements from Mr. Terry or his firm in these reviews, the client experiences themselves serve as the primary information for potential clients.
For local users in Vancouver, Washington, considering John Terry, Attorney at Law, these mixed reviews necessitate careful consideration. If you are facing a restraining order hearing, the positive experience shared by one client might be reassuring. However, the serious concerns raised by the other client regarding a lack of communication and advocacy, particularly in a court-appointed scenario, should not be disregarded. Potential clients may want to inquire specifically about Mr. Terry's approach to communication, case investigation, and client advocacy during an initial consultation.
Given the limited and conflicting nature of the available feedback, it is crucial for potential clients to conduct their own due diligence. This might include seeking additional reviews from other platforms, if available, and having a thorough consultation with Mr. Terry to discuss their specific legal needs and expectations. It would be prudent to ask about his communication practices, his approach to different types of cases (including restraining orders and court-appointed cases), and his commitment to advocating for his clients' rights.
In conclusion, the introduction to John Terry, Attorney at Law in Vancouver, Washington, based on the available online reviews, presents a nuanced picture. While one client reported a positive experience and successful outcome in a restraining order case, another client expressed significant dissatisfaction with his representation as a court-appointed attorney, citing a lack of communication and advocacy. Potential clients should carefully consider these contrasting experiences and conduct thorough research to determine if Mr. Terry's services align with their specific legal needs and expectations. It is recommended to have a direct consultation to discuss your case and assess whether you feel confident in his representation.

I had John Terry for a temp restraining order case. As the respondent, I was pretty anxious, especially since I was being accused of things that weren’t true. John reassured me that everything would work out and he was easy to contact if I had questions or concerns. There were times I probably got a little overly anxious, but John was easygoing about it. John got everything filed on time and the case ultimately got dismissed with prejudice. I’d recommend John Terry if you need an attorney to represent you at a restraining order hearing!
I got Mr. Terry as a court appointed attorney, during the 3 months the case was going on I never heard from him once despite numerous attempts to contact him. He pushed for trial without discussing anything with me before hand, he didn't do any investigation process. When my case was dismissed, at no account on him I found out from my new attorney during a consultation that my charges had been dropped. He is not for advocating for his clients. If you get him as a court appointed attorney, fire him and find actual representation who will fight for your rights.
He's a great attorney,a long with his assistant Tom Lynch. Easy to talk to and helps you understand the process. He does tend to be very busy though, so trying to reach him is sometimes difficult. I still recommend him though.

Criminal- I had the privilege of meeting John when my oldest son had a criminal encounter. I was both scared and embarrassed and clueless as to how to help him. John immediately took charge of the situation and provided my son with the support and defense he needed to get through the ordeal. John's professional demeanor and knowledge of the law would have been more than enough for me to write this review but it was the way that he was able to connect and communicate with my teenage son that impressed me the most. He was able to get a know it all teenager to sit, listen and absorb. Family- I relocated to the East Coast in 2015. Recently I had a custody issue that I needed advice on- I spoke to an attorney in my state and was told I would need an attorney in Vancouver- Instantly thought of John. When John called me back he remembered me even with all the years that have passed. John took his time and thoroughly explained every detail. He gave me all the information- even some I would have preferred not to receive- He was both honest and caring and I could tell he truly wanted to help me. Hands down John is one of the best attorney's in the Vancouver area! I would highly recommend John and would love to see him follow me out to the East Coast!
