Janet P. Welton, P.A. is situated at 301 S McDowell St #125, Charlotte, NC 28204, USA. This location places the firm in a well-known area of downtown Charlotte, offering relatively easy access for clients from various parts of the city. As a law office specializing in family law, the environment is typically designed to be conducive to sensitive discussions. While specific details about the interior décor are not publicly available, one can generally expect a professional and private setting, ensuring confidentiality and a space where clients feel comfortable sharing personal details about their situations. The nature of family law often requires a compassionate and understanding atmosphere, and it is common for such offices to strive for a supportive environment where clients can openly discuss their concerns without feeling judged. The physical presence in a prominent Charlotte building suggests a professional operation, aimed at providing accessible legal services to the local community.

The primary focus of Janet P. Welton, P.A.'s legal services is family law. This broad area encompasses a wide range of legal issues that impact families and personal relationships. Based on the provided client reviews, it is evident that her practice specifically handles matters such as divorce, child support, and child custody. These are often intertwined and require a thorough understanding of North Carolina family law statutes and procedures. For clients seeking child support, Janet P. Welton assists in establishing or modifying support orders, crucial for the financial well-being of children. In child custody cases, she helps clients work towards favorable arrangements that prioritize the best interests of the children, whether through negotiation or litigation. The review indicating assistance with "temporary custody" and a path towards "permanent custody" further confirms her involvement in these critical aspects of family law. Additionally, the mention of advising on how to help a handicapped older son suggests a willingness to offer guidance beyond the immediate scope of a case, potentially touching upon broader family welfare concerns or connecting clients with relevant resources. While other specific family law areas like alimony, property division in divorce, or domestic violence protective orders are not explicitly mentioned in the provided information, they often fall under the umbrella of family law services offered by practitioners in this field. The firm's dedication to assisting with disputes, such as stopping "my son's father from bullying me," indicates a commitment to protecting clients' rights and providing a sense of security during contentious situations.

An objective examination of Janet P. Welton, P.A.'s features, drawing from the provided client reviews, reveals a mixed perspective on her performance. On one hand, a positive review highlights her ability to bring "peace of mind" and praises her for being "more than a lawyer," offering advice beyond the immediate case. This suggests a compassionate and supportive approach, where the attorney takes a holistic view of the client's well-being. The client expresses feeling "honored to have her represent me," indicating a strong sense of trust and satisfaction with the outcome of their child support and temporary custody case. This perspective points to a lawyer who is perceived as dedicated, effective in achieving results, and empathetic to her clients' personal circumstances. The provision of direct contact information, phone (704) 333-7939 and mobile phone (+1 704-333-7939), underscores her availability and commitment to client communication, which is a vital feature for those navigating legal challenges.

However, another review offers a significantly different perspective, detailing a highly negative experience during a divorce case. This client reported issues with disorganization, stating that the attorney "kept losing all the crucial documents I provided her" and that she was "completely NOT prepared" for the court date, even pulling out "another person's file instead of mine." The review critically states that the attorney "didn't fight for me AT ALL" and failed to object during cross-examination of a witness, leading to an unfavorable outcome despite evidence of adultery. This feedback points to concerns regarding preparedness, attention to detail, and zealous advocacy. It also highlights the financial strain experienced by the client, who felt "stuck because she had my money already so I couldn’t afford to switch to another attorney." This contrasting review emphasizes the importance of due diligence for potential clients and the varied experiences individuals can have with legal representation. It is crucial for prospective clients to consider both positive and negative feedback when making an informed decision about legal counsel.

From a promotional standpoint, Janet P. Welton, P.A.'s presence within the "Nearby Lawyers" category allows her to reach individuals specifically searching for legal assistance in Charlotte. Promotional efforts would likely focus on her specialization in family law, particularly areas like child support and custody, which are clearly areas where she has provided beneficial outcomes for some clients. Leveraging positive testimonials, such as the one from the client who received child support and custody, would be a strong promotional tool, as direct client experiences often resonate most effectively with potential clients. While the negative review presents a challenge, transparent online platforms often feature a range of experiences, allowing prospective clients to weigh different perspectives. For attorneys, maintaining open communication channels, as indicated by the direct phone numbers, is a fundamental promotional aspect, as it signifies accessibility and responsiveness. Ultimately, the firm's promotion would aim to highlight its availability and its demonstrated ability to assist clients with specific family law needs, while potential clients are encouraged to thoroughly research and consult with any attorney to ensure a good fit for their specific circumstances.

Stopping in to try to prevent others from making the same mistake I made several years ago when I settled for this attorney to represent me in court in a nasty divorce. She was happy to take the $10,000 I had to pay her, but kept losing all the crucial documents I provided her. I had to make copy after copy to give her again and again. I was stuck because she had my money already so I couldn’t afford to switch to another attorney. Court date came and she was completely NOT prepared. She even pulled out another persons file instead of mine when court started. She didn’t fight for me AT ALL and let the “other side” have complete control. Not once did she object when the other side tore into my witness! Not once!! “He” walked away with everything except my car, and it was me that begged the judge for my car. This man had committed adultery and proof had been provided, but it was me that paid the price. I watched the faces of the other attorneys that were in court that day, and I watched the grins on the faces of the man and attorney I was up against. I would never in a million years recommend this attorney to anyone. I would have been better off representing myself. She is probably a very nice person, I would never slander her character, but this review is solely based on her performance as an attorney.

I needed help getting child support for my young sin and to stop my son's father from bullying me, if possible. Janet helped me get child support and temporary custody. I'm sure I'll get permanent custody eventually and, before long, get attorney's fees. I thank her for bringing me peace of mind and for being more than a lawyer. She had advised me also about how to help my older son, who is handicapped. I'm honored to have her represent me.

This lawyer answers her phone and pretends it's her secretary. If you have a case that sounds like she will make a lot of money on, she puts you on hold only to answer her phone again in a different voice. I went to her for a consult only to be told that she couldn't help me. While there she calls 4/5 of her attorney buddies to get them to help me. So why did I pay her a consult fee? I could have called the legal referral number myself! Her office is a wreck and she is scattered brained. While I was there she was on the phone to clients telling them the courts lost their paper work, court was the next morning, and it was 2 in the afternoon we she notified them. I have emailed her asking for a refund which she continues to ignore. Again Janet Welton I want a refund! I did not come to you for you to refer my to another lawyer. If I don't not receive a refund within 15 days, I am reporting you to the bar. You've practiced law for over 30 years but couldn't help me to enforce an equitable distribution. People go somewhere else.
