Holmes & Holmes Introduce

When facing legal matters, particularly those involving sensitive personal issues like divorce and family law, securing competent and trustworthy legal representation is paramount. Within the "Nearby Lawyers" category, we present Holmes & Holmes, a law firm located at 1111 N Brand Blvd # 400 in Glendale, California. Their location in Glendale suggests they serve the legal needs of the local community and surrounding areas.

Holmes & Holmes can be contacted at their office phone number, (818) 284-6632, or their mobile number, +1 818-284-6632. Providing both contact methods offers potential clients avenues to reach out for inquiries or to schedule consultations to discuss their legal requirements.

Based on the available information, which includes two negative customer reviews focusing on an attorney named Robert Holmes, it appears that Holmes & Holmes handles cases related to family law, specifically divorce, child support, spousal support, and property division. However, the experiences shared in these reviews raise significant concerns about the quality of representation provided by at least one attorney within the firm.

The first review expresses strong dissatisfaction with Robert Holmes's handling of a divorce case. The reviewer states that Mr. Holmes was "very passive" and tended to agree with opposing counsel, giving the impression of not being in the client's corner. The review further alleges that Mr. Holmes forgot crucial information, delegated tasks to associates while double-charging the client, lacked compassion, provided only brief, one-word answers, and omitted key facts during trial that could have altered the outcome. The client felt that Mr. Holmes prioritized his own financial gain over the client's best interests and ultimately regretted hiring him, citing negligence that led to a significant loss in trial. The reviewer also mentions that Mr. Holmes was unable to finalize the divorce, necessitating a substitution of attorney.

The second review echoes similar concerns regarding the handling of a family law case involving child and spousal support, as well as property division. This client spent a substantial amount ($22,000) but felt there was no clear strategy for property division. After two months of delays and unfulfilled promises to finalize a settlement agreement, the client felt abandoned and without guidance on their legal rights and expectations. The review alleges that when the client complained, Mr. Holmes advised them to sign a stipulation "as is," threatened them with attorney fees if the case went to trial, and stated they would no longer represent the client. The reviewer expresses the sentiment that attorneys should fight for their clients, not threaten and abandon them after receiving payment.

Based on these two negative reviews, the services offered by Holmes & Holmes, at least in the realm of family law as experienced by these clients, appear to include:

  • Divorce Representation: Handling the legal processes involved in divorce proceedings, including the division of assets and liabilities.
  • Child Support: Assisting clients in establishing, modifying, or enforcing child support orders.
  • Spousal Support (Alimony): Representing clients seeking or opposing spousal support payments.
  • Property Division: Handling the division of marital property during divorce proceedings.

However, the features of the representation provided by Robert Holmes, as described by these clients, raise serious concerns:

  • Passivity and Lack of Advocacy: One reviewer felt Mr. Holmes was not actively fighting for their interests and tended to agree with opposing counsel.
  • Forgetfulness and Negligence: Allegations of forgetting crucial information and omitting key facts in trial suggest potential negligence.
  • Poor Communication: One client described receiving only one-word answers and a lack of explanation regarding their case.
  • Delegation and Overcharging: The accusation of delegating work to associates while double-charging raises concerns about billing practices and the level of personal attention provided.
  • Prioritizing Personal Gain Over Client Interests: One reviewer felt Mr. Holmes prioritized his own financial gain over the client's well-being.
  • Abandonment of Client: The second review alleges that Mr. Holmes threatened to withdraw representation and charge attorney fees if the client did not agree to a proposed stipulation.
  • Lack of Strategic Planning: One client felt there was no clear strategy in place for a significant aspect of their case (property division).

Promotional information is not available. The two customer reviews serve as negative feedback, strongly discouraging potential clients from using the services of Robert Holmes, at least in family law matters. In the absence of any positive reviews or official promotional materials, these negative accounts provide the only available insight into these clients' experiences with the firm.

For local users in the "Nearby Lawyers" category considering Holmes & Holmes, the presence of two detailed and highly negative reviews regarding the services of Robert Holmes is a significant factor that should not be ignored. These reviews raise serious concerns about the quality of representation, communication, ethical practices, and overall client experience, particularly in family law cases such as divorce, child support, spousal support, and property division. Potential clients should exercise extreme caution and conduct thorough due diligence if considering this law firm. This would involve seeking information from multiple sources, if available, and potentially looking for reviews or disciplinary records associated with the firm or its attorneys through relevant legal authorities. It would also be prudent to seek consultations with other law firms in the Glendale area to compare services and client feedback.

Given the severity of the allegations in the two available reviews, individuals seeking legal representation in family law matters in Glendale may want to prioritize exploring other options within the "Nearby Lawyers" category that have more positive or a greater number of reviews to provide a more balanced perspective. Thorough research and careful consideration are essential when choosing legal counsel for sensitive and impactful legal issues.

In conclusion, Holmes & Holmes, located in Glendale, has received two significantly negative reviews detailing serious concerns about the representation provided by attorney Robert Holmes in family law cases. Potential clients should carefully consider this feedback and conduct thorough research before deciding to engage their services.

I would not hire Robert Holmes. He does not put up a fight, he is very passive and tends to agree with the opposing counsel. He forgets crucial information and ponds stuff off to his associates and double charges you. I didn’t feel like he was in my corner at all but more in my exes corner. He has no compassion and does not explain anything but give 1 word answers. He left out key facts in trial that could have had a complete different outcome. He truly does not have the best interest of the client in mind but thinks of his pocket first. I regret hiring him. I would never recommend him to anyone. His negligence truly hurt me in trial. I lost big. He couldn’t even close out my divorce and I had to get a substitution of attorney. Can’t believe someone like him is legal to practice law.

I spent $22k just to get child and spousal support payments, but there was no strategy in place to get the property division and after 2 months of delays and promises to get a settlement agreement hammered out - I was left with no guidance on what my rights were and what I could expect. When I complained Mr. Holmes told me to just sign the Stipulation as is and that they would not longer represent me and threatened me with attorney fees if he had to go to trial. Attorneys are supposed to fight for you not threaten and abandon you after they take your money.

Going through (my sisters) divorce is difficult but I’m so happy that she had the guidance of Robert Holmes who supported her every step of the way. He is determined, focused & was professional every step of the way. I can’t thank him enough for helping her navigate this step in her life. I highly recommend him.

My opinion is that this law firm is very unprofessional and unethical, charging my ex wife $4,000.00 up front for a simple divorce. Had to proceed to file a complaint with the California Bar, since I am on disability and have been left with no income. I allege this can be considered a conspiracy to extort an unfair settlement, since my ex wife has already stolen my money and is now trying to steal my home.
