I used the services of Herbert & Weiss LLP for an Annulment/Divorce. I was treated kindly and well respected. Everyone I had contact with was very knowledgeable about all aspects dealing with my case. I'm a person who very rarely does reviews. But because this firm did such an outstanding job with my case, I feel compelled to share this information

After having hired two other firms to represent me in my highly contentious divorce, I felt dejected and financially drained without an end in sight. Out of desperation to protect my children, I sought out another firm to represent me and was referred to Herbert & Weiss by a friend. My entire experience in the divorce process was finally set on the right track and ultimately settled in my favor as a result. From the beginning, Helene helped put my mind at ease. She took great care in attention to detail, making sure she truly understood every aspect of my case along with what was important to me, which involved the custody of young children, child support, division of marital assets, and my ex-husband's request for spousal support. Helene had the knowledge and fortitude necessary to ask the right questions and use the appropriate information to benefit my case and bring settlement to fruition. More importantly she did an amazing job keeping me informed and teaching me about the overall process to ensure I was comfortable and well-informed at all times. Helene is courteous, patient, and simply a wonderful human being with strong ethics, which is hard to come by these days. Don't be mis-led by her pleasant demeanor, I was amazed to watch Helene in action. She really knows when to turn it up and how to work around the strengths and take advantage of the weaknesses of her opposition. I was proud to have her by my side then, and still turn to Herbert & Weiss for all my legal matters, including updating my Will, Real Estate transactions, Child Support issues, and more. Honesty and integrity permeate Helene's personality and work ethic. It was evident in the court house that she is highly respected by her own peers and judges and I was extremely fortunate to be represented by such fine counsel during my divorce.

Helayne is an amazing lawyer and person. I had been searching for counsel for a few months and was ready to give up before I was referred to her, but I am so grateful I didn't. She's fair, honest, and highly knowledgeable. She made me feel comfortable sharing my story with her and made an ugly process a lot easier.

Though I didn't directly hire this firm...I am compelled to leave this review. I would exercise extreme caution before hiring this firm! The experience with this firm has been horrible. I have never met such irresponsible and borderline unethical attorney's. My husband and I decided to file form divorce early this year and to be on the safe side, we hired this firm to represent him. Margaret Ochner was the attorney assigned to this case. I did not hire an attorney at the time because my husband and I planed for an amicable divorce and there was no need to hire an attorney as we just needed “AN” attorney to file the case for us. From the start this office messed up our case by filing the initial divorce complaint in the WRONG county. Once I brought this to their attention (because they did not even notice), they filed a motion to change venue to have the case transferred with the proper court who had jurisdiction of our case. The motion was rejected because they did not include a certificate of service. So now they file a second amended motion to change venue and again this motion gets rejected because they filed it incomplete! Finally, when our case made it to the proper court, I found it necessary to hire my own attorney because it was clear that my husband’s attorney was completely useless! She then sends an email 30 days after the case is in the proper venue saying that she is filling for a default judgment against me because I did not answer to the divorce complaint! Ludacris! Again, failing to acknowledge that by this point I was already represented. So not only did she mess up our case but then tried to wipe her hands clean by trying to file an improper default. After she is put on notice AGAIN that I am represented, both my husband and I provided her a typed document which covered all aspects of was supposed to be a simple divorce. We provided this document back in May. She represented to my husband that she was working on the final agreement and when we appeared in court for the first time in early November, the Judged scheduled us for a final divorce hearing foe 12.21.2022 TODAY, where he would pronounce us divorced since we already had an agreement in the works. She was given an additional 6 weeks or more to complete the agreement she was supposedly working on since May. We followed up countless times on the status of the agreement and she never provided an update. Then finally she has the nerve to lie and say that my husband has made changes to the agreement (she said this 2 days before the scheduled hearing) which was totally untrue. She then finally sends a FIRST draft of the final agreement less than 48 hours before our final hearing, and wouldn’t you know it… mistakes everywhere even to which she used the wrong pronounce on our child listing her as male instead of female. After countless back and forth with finalizing the agreement, we finally ended up divorced but it didn't come without unnecessary delays and heartache as if a divorce is not difficult already. She definitely made this process completely traumatizing and unnecessarily difficult and she was way over her head in pretending to understand this case. She didn't even know how to file a proper motion to change venue! None of the heartache we experienced should have happened had she been more diligent and ethical. Steer far away from this firm!
