We had a horrible workers compensation claim experience with this firm. They were not thorough, we trusted them too much. 6 months after settlement we received a $6,000.00 medical bill. We reached out to them only to be told, sorry you signed the settlement agreement. We were naive to trust that they were looking out for us, we never received a bill prior as this was part of the settlement, the firm even said they called them. We know its our fault for signing without it being on there but never did we think that our lawyer would let that slide and accept the settlement without all medical bills they were aware of being included. We were a pain to them and i kind of think they just wanted to be done with us. They said they never received a release for them to get the bill, they acknowledged they knew about the medical bill and still settled the claim knowing it was outstanding. Now we have to pay it out of pocket. In my opinion, there are much better Workers Compensation firms out there. They made sure to take their percentage of the settlement. They also had one of their criminal defense attorneys handling our workers compensation claim, look on their website, no where does it say Thomas Simon specializes in workers compensation, we reached out to Richard Cayo asking for a different attorney to which he said Attorney Simon was competent,... competent enough that he settled knowing there were outstanding medical bills.... feel free to contact me if you want more info on our experience.

I’ve had great experiences with Halling & Cayo. They’ve been my go-to law firm for real estate law as well as business law since 2018. Very professional, highly communicative, fairly priced, and convenient location. Most importantly, great results.

Pat Grove recently helped me with my divorce. She was extremely professional, and encouraging when it was needed. She is very easy to talk to, and listens to the things that are important to you. I've recommended her several times, as she was recommended to me, and will continue to refer her way if needed.

Pat Grove represented me throughout my divorce and post divorce timeframes. She is the most down to earth, responsive, caring person and extremely professional and effective in the courtroom. I put my complete trust in her and she carried me through the most difficult times in my life. I consider it an honor to have worked with her and to know her.

They claimed they couldn't help me because of the other party. Someone I knew told me it's because they called everyone so no one would wanna help me. Since he called 1st they made it seem as if he was interested in their help, so when I called they keep saying they can't help me. Court is soon and I have not found anyone who was interested in cresting a loophole for me. I'm broken hearted, disappointed and so worried I'd lose a child because no one saw to notice what I did nor care to ignore it and help me anyway.

About Halling & Cayo, S.C.
For local users in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, seeking legal representation across various practice areas, Halling & Cayo, S.C. presents itself as a notable firm within the "Nearby Lawyers" category. Located at 320 E Buffalo St # 700, Milwaukee, WI 53202, the firm is situated in the city's vibrant Historic Third Ward. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the firm's environment, the services it offers, its key features, and relevant promotional insights, drawing upon both the provided information and public domain knowledge, including mixed client testimonials.
Halling & Cayo, S.C. is strategically located in the Historic Third Ward of Milwaukee. This area is known for its revitalized industrial buildings, art galleries, boutiques, and diverse dining options, offering a dynamic and accessible environment. The address, 320 E Buffalo St # 700, suggests an office within a multi-story commercial building, likely renovated to offer modern professional spaces while retaining the historic charm of the neighborhood. The firm's presence in such an area indicates a contemporary and professional setting that might appeal to a wide range of clients. While specific interior details of the office are not provided, one can infer an environment that is designed to be professional, perhaps with a contemporary aesthetic fitting the Third Ward. Accessibility in this district is generally good, with various parking options and public transportation available, contributing to a convenient experience for clients attending consultations. The firm's location within a bustling, yet historically rich, part of the city suggests a modern approach to legal practice while maintaining a sense of establishment.
Halling & Cayo, S.C. appears to offer a diverse range of legal services, catering to both individuals and businesses. Based on the client reviews, the firm's practice areas include:
- Real Estate Law: One client specifically highlights their positive experiences with Halling & Cayo for real estate law matters. This typically involves property transactions, disputes, zoning issues, landlord-tenant law, and other legal aspects related to real property.
- Business Law: The same client also commends the firm for their business law services. This can encompass a wide array of legal needs for businesses, including corporate formation, contracts, commercial litigation, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
- Workers' Compensation Claims: One detailed review specifically discusses a workers' compensation claim handled by the firm. This area of law involves assisting employees who have been injured on the job to secure compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other related damages. The review, however, raises concerns about the handling of this specific claim.
- Criminal Defense: The critical review mentions that a "criminal defense attorney" (Thomas Simon) was handling their workers' compensation claim. While this was a point of contention for the client, it indicates that criminal defense is indeed a practice area for the firm. This would include representing individuals accused of various crimes, from misdemeanors to felonies.
While the provided information highlights these specific areas through client feedback, general law firm websites often list additional practice areas such as personal injury, family law, and estate planning, which might also be part of their offerings to provide comprehensive services to their clientele.
The distinguishing features of Halling & Cayo, S.C., as gleaned from the provided testimonials, present a mixed picture, which is important for an objective introduction. On the positive side, one client describes the firm as "Very professional, highly communicative, fairly priced, and convenient location. Most importantly, great results." This suggests that for certain types of cases, such as real estate and business law, clients have experienced efficiency, clear communication, reasonable fees, and favorable outcomes. The longevity of their relationship with this client ("since 2018") further indicates a consistent level of satisfaction in these areas.
However, another review details a highly negative experience with a workers' compensation claim, raising significant concerns about thoroughness, communication, and specialization. This client felt the firm was "not thorough," leading to a significant unexpected medical bill after settlement. The core issue appears to be a perceived lack of diligence in ensuring all outstanding medical bills were accounted for prior to settlement, and the client felt they were "naive to trust that they were looking out for us." The client's assertion that a criminal defense attorney handled their workers' compensation case, with no stated specialization in that area on the firm's website, highlights a potential concern regarding attorney specialization and appropriate assignment of cases. This particular review also mentions the firm's focus on taking their percentage of the settlement, and a feeling of being "a pain to them," suggesting a potential breakdown in client-attorney relationship and perceived prioritization of efficiency over comprehensive client care in this specific instance. This indicates that while some clients experience "great results," others may encounter issues with the firm's handling of certain types of cases or attorney assignments.
From a promotional standpoint, Halling & Cayo, S.C. can leverage its convenient and appealing location in the Historic Third Ward, which can be a draw for clients. The positive testimonial emphasizing professionalism, communication, fair pricing, and "great results" serves as strong word-of-mouth promotion for their real estate and business law practices. This feedback can attract clients seeking these specific services and who value clear communication and positive outcomes. The firm's phone numbers, (414) 271-3400 and +1 414-271-3400, provide direct access for potential clients. The firm's presence in a bustling urban district also suggests a firm that is actively engaged with the local business and residential community.
However, for comprehensive and objective promotion, the firm would also need to address the concerns raised in the negative review. While law firms naturally encounter varied client experiences, directly addressing issues like attorney specialization and the thoroughness of case management in areas like workers' compensation would be crucial for building widespread trust. Potential clients researching "Nearby Lawyers" would consider both positive and negative feedback. The firm's ability to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and addressing client concerns, even in cases where errors or misunderstandings occurred, would enhance its overall reputation. The firm's website would typically serve as the primary promotional platform, detailing all practice areas and attorney specializations clearly to help clients make informed decisions about whether Halling & Cayo, S.C. is the right fit for their specific legal needs.
