Reviews

  • If you want an attorney to do illegal stuff, he's your guy. My brother conned me and 2 of my siblings in a real estate transaction without our knowledge and this lawyer signed off on it. The document showed we each signed it in front of a notary, which none of us did. Wrong names and addresses for each of us which shows nobody did their homework or cared to do their due diligence. He's the kind of attorney who gives lawyers a bad name. I even went to another attorney who said he never saw anything like this in his 38 years in the business.

Additionally, he has served as an adjunct professor at Cumberland County College since 1990, teaching courses in trusts and estates, real estate transactions, and business law. It is also crucial to address the publicly available customer reviews. One review states: "If you want an attorney to do illegal stuff, he's your guy. I even went to another attorney who said he never saw anything like this in his 38 years in the business." This review raises serious allegations concerning professional misconduct, including signing off on a document without proper notarization and a lack of due diligence in a real estate transaction. Such a review, if accurate, could indicate a significant breach of professional ethics and legal standards. Another review, conversely, states "Excellent lawyer. Great service!", presenting a positive view of his services. For any potential client using the "Nearby Lawyers" platform, it is imperative to consider both positive and negative feedback, and to conduct thorough due diligence and independent verification of an attorney's reputation and practices before engaging their services, especially when serious allegations are present. The disciplinary records of the New Jersey Supreme Court's Disciplinary Review Board indicate that in 2011, in an unrelated matter, William Michael Gilson was found to have violated certain Rules of Professional Conduct related to conflict of interest and business transactions with a client. This information, combined with the recent negative review, suggests a need for potential clients to exercise caution and thoroughly vet legal professionals.

In conclusion, William M. Gilson is a Vineland, NJ-based attorney with a focus on real estate, estate planning, tax, and business law, and holds a public service role as Deputy Surrogate for Cumberland County. While his background demonstrates a breadth of knowledge and experience, publicly available client reviews and disciplinary information highlight the importance for prospective clients to conduct comprehensive research before making a decision on legal representation.
