Information regarding the firm's office environment is not detailed online; however, its Piedmont Road NE address offers a central location within Atlanta.

Based on recent customer reviews, it is important to note that some individuals have reported negative experiences with Freisem Macon Swann & Malone, particularly concerning debt collection matters handled by the firm, specifically involving attorney J. Swann and his assistant. These reviews raise serious concerns about the firm's professionalism, communication practices, and adherence to ethical standards and legal regulations.

One reviewer detailed an initial positive interaction with a young lady answering the phone but reported a subsequent rude encounter with J. Swann's assistant. This individual's attempt to speak directly with the attorney regarding their account in collections was met with resistance and what they perceived as unprofessional behavior from the assistant, including yelling. While the attorney eventually spoke with the reviewer, the experience was described as less than pleasant. This account suggests potential issues with the firm's client communication and the professionalism of some staff members.

A second, more detailed review outlines a significantly frustrating and unprofessional experience related to a personal loan collection handled by John Swann's office. The reviewer alleges a disregard for an agreed-upon payment schedule, claiming that Mr. Swann's office deposited a post-dated check early, leading to bank overdraft fees. Despite a note accompanying the initial payment explicitly instructing the office to deposit funds only on the due date, the reviewer states that Mr. Swann claimed to have not received this request. This directly contradicts the reviewer's account and raises questions about the firm's attention to detail and client instructions.

Furthermore, the reviewer describes a sudden change in the firm's policy regarding post-dated checks. After accepting such checks previously, the office reportedly returned a check with a letter stating they no longer accept them. This abrupt policy shift, coupled with the alleged early deposit of a post-dated check, highlights a lack of consistent communication and a potential disregard for established payment arrangements. The reviewer explicitly labels this behavior as both unethical and a potential violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

The negative consequences for the reviewer included unnecessary financial hardship and stress due to the overdraft fees caused by the alleged early deposit. The reviewer states that they requested reimbursement for these fees from Mr. Swann but received no response. This lack of communication and accountability further exacerbates the negative impression of the firm's client service in this particular instance.

Given these specific and serious allegations, it is difficult to identify positive features or promotional aspects of Freisem Macon Swann & Malone based solely on this recent feedback. The experiences shared by these reviewers serve as a cautionary note for potential clients, particularly those dealing with debt collection matters. The accusations of rudeness, unprofessional conduct, poor communication, and potential FDCPA violations are significant concerns that should be carefully considered.

For local users within the Nearby Lawyers category seeking legal assistance, particularly in debt collection, it is essential to weigh all available information before making a decision. The negative experiences detailed in these reviews suggest potential risks associated with engaging Freisem Macon Swann & Malone, at least in the area of debt collection as handled by John Swann's office. I called the law firm as I was notified by a company they placed my account into collections with this firm. The first young lady who answered the phone was quite nice. I was forwarded to J. Swann's assistant, who was rude. I requested to speak to the attorney on the file (as she was truly not answering the questions I was asking so why would I answer hers lol), and was told "He's just going to refer you back to me." I maintained that I would like to speak to the attorney. At that time, she yelled (to what I assume is the attorney's office) "She won't give me her address, SHE will only give it to YOU. What do you want me to do? No, she won't, she'll only give it to you." The phone was then placed on hold and the attorney picked up. He wasn't the most pleasant, but he was not blatantly rude as his little assistant was. And, no, he didn't refer me back to her because she truly was unable to answer my questions. I didn't want a fight and am willing to resolve my balance as soon as possible--imagine my surprise to be met with such a rude little assistant when I was trying to pay the balance off without even knowing there was a lawsuit.

Beware, this office is not your friend. I had a very frustrating and unprofessional experience with John Swann’s office, which handled a personal loan collection. Despite agreeing to a specific payment schedule, Mr. Swann deposited my post-dated check early, which caused my bank account to overdraft. I contacted him to address the issue and was completely ignored—no response, no explanation. Included with my initial payment was a note to only deposit funds on the due date. He claimed that he did not receive this request. What made this even more frustrating is that after accepting post-dated checks in the past, his office suddenly returned one of my checks with a letter stating they no longer accept post-dated payments. This lack of communication and disregard for the agreement we had in place is both unethical and a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). I have asked Mr. Swann to reimburse me for the overdraft fees caused by his negligence, but he has yet to respond. Overall, my experience has been very disappointing, and I would not recommend using John Swann’s office for any legal matters related to debt collection. They have caused unnecessary financial hardship and stress by failing to handle my payments professionally and ethically. I have filed a complaint with the (FDCPA) as well as the State Bar of Georgia.

To be clear, the young lady who answers the phone is very polite, courteous, and professional, but the assistant Lane Ryan is a disgrace to the legal field. She is extremely rude and extremely Unprofessional! If not for the fact that I do not want to take off and go to court I would not deal with this law office. She not only got loud with me, but she accused me of being loud with her She then hung up the phone on me. When I called back and asked to speak to an attorney, a Mr. John Swann picked up the phone and had a smug tone as well. I wish that we were able to give this law firm negative stars!!! I wonder if they're not just a bunch of ambulance chasers. They must be the bottom of the barrel!
