This attorney represented me one year ago in a family law case. He was horrible. He talk a good talk when he’s selling you on what he can do, but that is far from the truth. However, he speaks very clearly and is assertive when he’s talking about his billing invoices and payments. In court, when it came time for him to speak, he was slow to respond and allowed the other counsel to over talk him throughout. I spent about 7 thousand dollars, and I could have done a better job representing myself or came out with as little as I did. I felt like he hustled me. If you have money to throw away, then he’s the person. I wouldn’t allow him to notarize documents for 10 cents…

This man has devastated my family with the lie he told he never even notify the court after the first motion judgement went against us because he was incompetent

A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME: Poor experience. I drove about an hour to meet with one of the Attorneys at the Dekalb Family Law Center and although in October 2018 my experience with one of the employees (brown women, cropped short haircut and eyeglasses) was an extremely positive one, I am unable to say the same going forward.. The Family Law Center charges a $20 fee and is supposed to assist Pro Se individuals within a 30 minute timeframe Unfortunately, this was not the case. I arrived on time for my 2:30PM appointment but was taken back 12 minutes after (2:42PM). As a result, the Attorneys actually count that time against you while also wasting your time in an attempt to talk over you, fast talk you, (epic fail) and attempt to make you second guess yourself. I came prepared, notes, paperwork and all in efforts of making the absolute best out of the 30 minutes. However, my ability to be prepared was obviously intimidating to Attorney Donald S. Horace who treated me with such disrespect and was also condescending... He even asked me a question and when I answered the question TRUTHFULLY this guy basically told me I was lying! Whenever I asked questions to gain a clear understanding of something, this guy who carried himself in a very feminine manner which is PERFECTLY FINE until he allowed his lifestyle to interfere with the service in which he was supposed to provide.. Clearly, he expected me to conduct myself like the individuals of the Dekalb demographic that frequent the Magistrate/Superior Courts. Unfortunately, it’s safe to assume he’s use to meeting with of all sorts of people from ALL walks of life when volunteering or donating his time to the Dekalb Family Law Center and found that my assertiveness, self-preparation, confidence, tone and strength was intimidating to his male /female nature.. Donald Horace was so busy trying to use my meeting time to pitch himself as an Attorney, ALTHOUGH they don’t represent you instead of being effective during the limited amount of time.. After telling me that he didn’t believe me, once I answered his question he felt sooooo foolish after having read my Temporary Order and again, I note he felt soooooo foolish because my Temporary Order not only validated the “honest” response I gave him but also answered his own question as well as more. This guy looked like pie was slammed in his face after reading my Temporary Order.. I told him very confidently that not every person or case is the same so he should make sure that he’s not treating EVERYONE the same. Donald wasted so much time, he gave me one piece of advice, took 5 minutes to write it out and then had the audacity to ask me to give it back! I refused and told him to give me my $20 back if he wanted anything back from me. Donald S. Horace is a JOKE! And quite frankly so is the Family Law Center. Thank God I’m a strong, intelligent, praying WOMAN-rather than weak, classless and uneducated because my experience was terrible, discouraging and simply a waste of time. The Attorneys don’t want to help you, they give you (one) piece of advice or guidance, and think that they’ve actually helped you. They don’t want you to ask them questions or possess any basic knowledge of the legal system at all. Again, Donald Horace was horrible! He even asked me how much my home was worth, debt etc.. And while this is acceptable when being represented by an Attorney it had nothing to do with my meeting. He was perhaps being nosey in an attempt to calculate my income/net worth.. Only he knows.. He was simply wasting and dragging time with all of those unnecessary questions. This guy/gal ended my meeting 10 minutes before hand and is a pathetic resource. I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone, ever. If I were an Attorney I would never treat people with such disrespect, unprofessionalism and rude behavior.

Mr. Horace was not only unprepared but, condescending and rude. After dragging my case out as long as possible (18 months), he had the nerve to withdraw from the case after I pushed him to do his job! He is a disgrace and I will be filing a formal complaint! Don't go anywhere near him for legal advice.

About Donald S. Horace
For individuals in Decatur, Georgia, and the wider Atlanta area seeking legal representation in family law matters, Donald S. Horace is an attorney located at 160 Clairemont Ave Suite 200, Decatur, GA 30030. Listed within the "Nearby Lawyers" category, Mr. Horace offers legal services in the local community. It is important for prospective clients to consider all available information when making a decision about legal representation. The following introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on the customer reviews found online.
The limited number of customer reviews available for Donald S. Horace paint a concerning picture regarding client experiences. These reviews raise significant issues about the attorney's effectiveness in court, communication regarding case progress, and overall client satisfaction. Potential clients should carefully consider these perspectives when evaluating whether to engage Mr. Horace's services.
One reviewer who was represented by Mr. Horace in a family law case a year prior expressed strong dissatisfaction with the representation received. This client stated that while Mr. Horace was articulate and assertive when discussing billing and payments, his performance in court was described as "horrible." The reviewer indicated that Mr. Horace was slow to respond during court proceedings and was frequently overshadowed by opposing counsel. This perceived lack of assertiveness in court is a critical factor for individuals seeking strong advocacy in family law disputes.
The same reviewer further expressed the opinion that the $7,000 spent on Mr. Horace's services did not yield satisfactory results, suggesting that self-representation might have led to a similar or even better outcome. This sentiment raises concerns about the value and effectiveness of the legal services provided in this particular case. The reviewer concluded by stating they felt "hustled" and would not trust Mr. Horace even for a simple notarization.
Another review echoes a similarly negative experience, with the client alleging that Mr. Horace "devastated" their family due to a purported lie and a failure to notify the court after an unfavorable initial judgment. The accusation of incompetence leading to a failure in court notification is a serious claim that potential clients should be aware of. This review further amplifies concerns about the level of professional conduct and diligence in handling family law cases.
Based on the available information, it is challenging to objectively describe a positive environment or highlight specific features of Mr. Horace's practice that are consistently praised by clients. The recurring themes in the reviews are negative, focusing on perceived ineffectiveness in court, concerns about billing practices versus service quality, and allegations of professional negligence.
The services offered by Donald S. Horace are indicated to be within the realm of family law, as one reviewer explicitly mentioned a family law case. This area of law can encompass a wide range of issues, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, and modifications of existing orders. However, the reviews do not provide specific positive examples of successful outcomes or satisfied clients within these service areas.
Given the overwhelmingly negative feedback in the available reviews, it is difficult to identify positive features that would typically attract clients. The assertiveness described by one reviewer appears to be primarily directed towards billing matters, rather than courtroom advocacy. The clarity of speech mentioned in the context of discussing invoices does not translate to perceived effectiveness in legal representation.
There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Instead, the feedback serves as a cautionary note for potential clients considering Donald S. Horace for their family law needs. The absence of positive testimonials and the presence of serious allegations regarding his professional conduct and effectiveness should prompt careful consideration and further investigation by anyone considering his services.
For local users in Decatur and the surrounding Atlanta area seeking a "Nearby Lawyer" for family law matters, the available reviews for Donald S. Horace raise significant red flags. The concerns expressed by former clients regarding his courtroom performance, communication, and overall effectiveness should be carefully weighed against the need for competent and reliable legal representation in sensitive family law cases. Potential clients are strongly advised to conduct thorough due diligence and seek additional information before making a decision.
In conclusion, the objective introduction of Donald S. Horace based on the provided customer reviews reveals a pattern of negative experiences, particularly concerning his representation in family law court and his communication with clients regarding their cases. The reviews suggest potential issues with effectiveness, value for money, and professional conduct. Therefore, local users seeking a family law attorney in Decatur, GA, should approach this information with caution and consider it a crucial part of their decision-making process when selecting legal counsel.
