Debtstoppers: Bankruptcy Law Firm primarily offers services related to bankruptcy law. This typically includes assisting clients with understanding the different types of bankruptcy available under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, such as Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. The services provided by a bankruptcy law firm generally encompass:

  • Initial Consultation: This is usually the first step, where potential clients can discuss their financial situation with an attorney or a representative of the firm to determine if bankruptcy is the right option for them and, if so, which chapter of bankruptcy might be most suitable.
  • Financial Assessment: Bankruptcy law firms help clients analyze their debts, assets, income, and expenses to get a clear picture of their financial standing and how bankruptcy could provide relief.
  • Preparation of Bankruptcy Petition and Schedules: Filing for bankruptcy involves completing numerous legal forms and schedules that detail the client's financial affairs. The law firm assists in accurately preparing and filing these documents with the bankruptcy court.
  • Representation in Bankruptcy Proceedings: This includes representing the client at meetings with creditors (often referred to as the 341 meeting) and any other court hearings that may be required throughout the bankruptcy process.
  • Guidance Through the Discharge Process: A key goal of bankruptcy is often to obtain a discharge of eligible debts, which legally eliminates the obligation to repay them. The law firm guides clients through this crucial stage.
  • Post-Bankruptcy Advice: Some firms may also offer advice on rebuilding credit and managing finances after the bankruptcy discharge.

When considering a lawyer or law firm, understanding their features and approach to client service is essential. Based on the limited information available, particularly the customer reviews, it is important for potential clients to be aware of some feedback regarding communication and the handling of cases at Debtstoppers: Bankruptcy Law Firm - Old National Hwy. One review mentions "poor communication" and a lack of clear explanations, stating that the firm sends emails without ensuring client understanding and that clarification questions are met with short and snappy responses. This suggests a potential area where some clients have experienced dissatisfaction with the firm's communication practices.

Another, more detailed review raises significant concerns about the length of time it is taking to receive discharge papers, with the client reporting a delay of over seven months. This client also mentions difficulties with a specific staff member regarding payment processing and expresses frustration with the lack of progress in their case despite repeated communication with a paralegal. The strong negative tone and the urgency expressed in this review are important for potential clients to consider when evaluating this firm.

It is crucial to approach online reviews with a balanced perspective, as they represent individual experiences and may not be representative of every client's interaction with the firm. However, these reviews do highlight potential areas of concern regarding communication, customer service, and the efficiency of case processing at Debtstoppers: Bankruptcy Law Firm - Old National Hwy in Atlanta.

Poor communication, they don’t explain nothing! They just send all these emails and expect you to understand. Then when you ask questions for clarification they get very short and snappy.

So I filed February 23, 2024, It is now September 27, 2024 (7 DAMN MONTHS) and I have not received my discharge papers. Not to mention the person who takes my payment , Alexander, last time I was on the phone with him to withdraw a payment he had a bad attitude and kept talking over me, You all need to do something with him. Anyways, I have talked to Sylvia the paralegal about my case over and over and still no discharge papers yet. These people are messing up my life and they don’t even know it. I can’t get a vehicle without MY DISCHARGE PAPERS. IF I can give this place 0 stars I would, I don’t even recommend this place to anyone when they ask me . So since I have been asking for my discharge papers for months and I keep getting the run around and attitudes , I WANT MY DAMN DISCHARGE PAPERS. IT DOES NOT TAKE THAT LONG , UNLESS YOU GUYS HAVE IT AND ARE NOT GIVING IT TO ME. JUST GIVE ME MY DAMN DISCHARGE PAPERS IMMEDIATELY!!! And I don’t want to hear that you guys are genuinely sorry or nothing because if you were my case would’ve been discharged already.

Very bad with communication. They do not explain things and take forever to reply to email. I would not recommend.

By far the worst law firm I could have ever chose to handle my bankruptcy. The office I started my bankruptcy (Stonecrest) mysteriously closed with no notice to me. I’ve haven’t talked to an actual lawyer since the first year or so of my case which was in 2020. The only people I “talk” to is through email …which is a paralegal who is outsourced in another country. When you call, same thing. Speak to a call center agent who is outsourced. Now my bankruptcy is slated to end and all of a sudden I’m behind (of course debtstoppers got all of their money) unbeknownst to me. I thought my case was scheduled to end around March 2025. They are telling me December 2024. Now they want me to pay $4000+ up front or convert my 13 into a 7 and turn my car in. Keep in mind, I never wanted to include my car note in my bankruptcy bc I never paid my car note late …but of course the lawyer at the time told me it would save me a lot of money …and now look. That lawyer is gone and I’m in an upsetting predicament .

DebtStoppers is the worst company to use for bankruptcy. I do not recommend them to anyone. I filed for chapter 7 in November of 2023 and had my creditors meeting in January 2024. However, I have not yet received a discharge or any communication regarding my case. Despite emailing my attorney several times, I have received no response. It has been impossible to get anyone on the phone. When I finally spoke with someone, she told me that she could not advise me on the details of my case without speaking with the legal team first. It is extremely frustrating that no one is communicating with me about my case. There seems to be some sort of error within my case, as it should not take 9 months for a discharge. However, nobody is telling me what the issue is. I have been given the run around for months now. I have heard similar stories from others who have used DebtStoppers for their bankruptcy cases. It seems that their lack of communication and unresponsiveness is a common issue. I would advise anyone considering using DebtStoppers for bankruptcy to look for a different company with better reviews and a more reliable track record. It is important to have a trustworthy and communicative legal team when dealing with such important and sensitive matters as bankruptcy. I regret my decision to use DebtStoppers and hope that others can learn from my experience.
