  • I've been trying to get a hold of someone for over 2 months. Nobody will return my calls or online inquiry.
  • The staff are extremely helpful in connecting you with a lawyer to answer your legal questions. They are not lawyers themselves though so don't expect to get your question answered same day as the program is designed to make an appointment with you and a lawyer. They have most of the forms you would pay $20-$55 dollars for at the court house. There open 5 days a week which is fantastic though they do sometimes take a lunch so plan accordingly. Also, if your legal problem is in regard to some paperwork bring a copy with you or email them a copy in advance and it will greatly improve the advice you recieve. Finally, the program is based on income so you should call in advance to see if you qualify. Hope you get your legal problems resolved.
  • 3.5 weeks of schedule/cancel/reschedule game of chicken. First attempt was 2 weeks to get to talk to someone. They cancelled 2 days before with only ever one time option for next week even after requesting an alternative. The second time they cancelled 3 hours before. Both times required my rearranging my schedule to accommodate their only one time slot per week. They reschedule for 11:30 on Monday. 11:45 Monday I called them, which they responded they were very pleased to know that I called before they could call me. Apparently the lawyer was just getting to the phone calls. Which was now my first indication that I was not the only person scheduled at 11:30 that day. When the call came at 1:30 p.m. it was very apparent that the lawyer was not prepared for my call because in order to talk about the detailed terms of my contract that I had sent over prior to last week's meeting, she was having issues with her computer and unable to access them. So great that a nonprofit could use all that money to just reschedule people and not really give assistance. Very very poor form for a nonprofit. Will never go to then again!
  • They take time. It's not fast food. If you need their help they are there for you. Just understand lawyers are not a next day thing. Call them ASAP when you get a summons and they will help you.
  • I just want to extend a huge thank you to Jim, and his team here. Saying he went above and beyond for the safety of me, and my children, is an understatement. It was a huge amount of work, and figuring out what to do for my overly complicated case, and he was there every step of the way for our high risk case. These people work here because they genuinely care... I wish I knew of a better place to leave a good review, but 5 stars is not enough for the help we got, thank you Jim, and everyone at the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers program.

About Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program

Welcome to our platform for Nearby Lawyers, your local connection to legal resources in your community. Today, we focus on a unique and crucial service within the Vancouver, Washington area: the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program, located at 1104 Main St Suite 1. This program plays a vital role in providing access to justice by connecting eligible low-income individuals with volunteer attorneys who offer their expertise on a pro bono basis. If you are a local resident facing legal challenges and have limited financial resources, understanding the environment, services, features, and eligibility requirements of the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program is essential.

The environment of the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program is likely centered around facilitating connections between clients and volunteer attorneys. The office serves as an intake and coordination hub. Based on the positive review, the staff are described as extremely helpful in guiding individuals through the process of connecting with a lawyer. While the program itself does not house staff attorneys who provide direct legal advice on the spot, it functions as a bridge to access legal expertise. The availability of legal forms, which can often be costly at the courthouse, suggests a resource-oriented environment aimed at assisting individuals navigating the legal system. The mention of operating five days a week indicates a commitment to accessibility, although the note about potential lunch breaks highlights the importance of planning your visit accordingly.

The primary service of the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program is to connect eligible individuals with volunteer attorneys who can provide legal assistance. This involves several key steps and offerings:

  • Intake and Assessment: The program staff conduct an initial intake process to understand the nature of the legal issue and to assess the applicant's income eligibility. As noted in a review, it is crucial to call in advance to determine if you meet the income criteria for the program.
  • Appointment Scheduling: The program is designed to schedule appointments between eligible clients and volunteer attorneys. It's important to understand, as one reviewer pointed out, that you will likely not receive immediate legal advice on the same day as your initial contact. The program focuses on arranging dedicated time with a volunteer lawyer.
  • Connecting with Volunteer Attorneys: The program draws upon a network of local attorneys who volunteer their time and expertise to assist individuals who cannot afford legal representation. The areas of law covered by these volunteer attorneys may vary, but the program aims to match clients with lawyers who have experience in the relevant field.
  • Providing Legal Forms: The program offers access to many legal forms that individuals might otherwise have to pay for at the courthouse. This can be a significant benefit for those navigating legal processes without full representation.
  • Facilitating Legal Advice: The core function is to provide a platform for individuals to receive legal advice and guidance from qualified attorneys, even if they cannot afford traditional legal fees. The scope of assistance provided by the volunteer attorneys will depend on the nature of the case and the attorney's capacity.

Several features of the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program are important for local users to understand:

  • Income-Based Eligibility: Eligibility for the program's services is based on income. Individuals must meet specific financial criteria to qualify for assistance. It is essential to call the program in advance to inquire about these requirements.
  • Volunteer-Based Service: The program relies on the generosity of local attorneys who volunteer their time. This means the availability of attorneys and the types of legal cases they can handle may vary.
  • Appointment-Driven: Legal advice is typically provided through scheduled appointments with volunteer attorneys, not on a walk-in or same-day basis after initial contact.
  • Information and Referral: While the staff are not lawyers themselves, they are knowledgeable about the program and can help connect individuals with the appropriate resources and schedule appointments.
  • Resource for Legal Forms: The program offers access to legal forms, potentially saving individuals money.
  • Importance of Preparedness: As one reviewer advises, if your legal issue involves paperwork, bringing a copy with you or emailing it in advance can significantly improve the quality of the advice you receive from the volunteer attorney.

Based on the information provided, there is no explicit promotional information available for the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program in the traditional sense. However, the program itself can be considered a vital community resource offering a form of pro bono legal assistance to those who qualify. The "promotion" here is the availability of this service to eligible residents of Clark County who might otherwise go without legal help. The value proposition is access to legal advice and representation through volunteer efforts, making the legal system more accessible to low-income individuals.

It is important to note the feedback from one user who reported difficulty getting in touch with the program. While the other review highlights the helpfulness of the staff once contact is made, potential users should be aware that initial outreach might require persistence. If you are a resident of Vancouver, WA, with a legal issue and limited income, you can contact the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program at (360) 695-5313 or their mobile phone at +1 360-695-5313. In conclusion, the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program serves a critical function within the Vancouver, WA community by connecting eligible low-income individuals with volunteer attorneys. While initial contact might require some persistence, the program offers the potential for valuable legal advice and assistance to those who cannot afford traditional legal services.
