I hired Brent Bloom to handle a civil forfeiture case. He assured me that the case would be settled well before trial. He said that civil forfeitures never go to trial. 3 days before my trial began he told me to come to Nebraska from the West Coast. I was left with my pants down at trial. It was completely embarrassing. At trial he never questioned why the K9 took over 3 minutes to detect the smell of drugs yet the officer stated "the smell was so potent that it knocked him back" He did not contact me after i lost at trial until THE DAY BEFORE my deadline to appeal. Completely unprofessional and incompetent. He took my $7,500 retainer and thought he could phone-it-in. The only time he dedicated to my case was the day before trial at which point it was a little too late to do anything useful. Brent Bloom is the most lethargic attorney I have ever met or known. Do not hire him - you have been warned.

- Civil Forfeiture: As directly mentioned in one client review, Brent Bloom takes on civil forfeiture cases, which involve the government seizing property alleged to be involved in criminal activity, even if the property owner is not charged with a crime.
- DUI/OWI Defense: While not explicitly stated in the provided reviews, criminal defense attorneys often handle Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) cases.

The features of Brent Bloom's legal practice, as described by clients, present a mixed picture. However, another review provides a starkly contrasting perspective. This client describes a highly negative experience concerning a civil forfeiture case. Key features highlighted in this negative review include accusations of:
- Lack of Preparedness: The client claims that Bloom "never questioned why the K9 took over 3 minutes to detect the smell of drugs," despite an officer's strong assertion, suggesting inadequate preparation for trial.
- Broken Assurances: The client states Bloom "assured me that the case would be settled well before trial," and that "civil forfeitures never go to trial," which proved false, leaving the client feeling "left with my pants down at trial."
- Poor Communication Post-Loss: The client states Bloom "did not contact me after i lost at trial until THE DAY BEFORE my deadline to appeal," which is described as "Completely unprofessional and incompetent."
- Perceived Lack of Dedication: The client suggests Bloom "thought he could phone-it-in" and only dedicated significant time "the day before trial at which point it was a little too late to do anything useful," describing him as "the most lethargic attorney I have ever met or known."
- Financial Concerns: The mention of a "$7,500 retainer" taken without perceived commensurate effort raises concerns about fee management and service value for the client.
These contrasting reviews underscore the subjective nature of client experiences and highlight critical areas that potential clients might consider when evaluating legal counsel. For a "Nearby Lawyers" platform, presenting these diverse experiences is crucial for objective introduction, allowing users to weigh the feedback for themselves.

The positive aspects of client feedback would likely be highlighted, focusing on "knowing his stuff," being "charismatic and accommodating," and receiving "Excellent" recommendations. However, an objective introduction, especially one based on all available information including critical reviews, necessitates a nuanced approach. While the firm would promote its capabilities in civil forfeiture, criminal law, and family law, and highlight its accessibility and positive testimonials, a comprehensive objective introduction must acknowledge the varying client perceptions. Potential clients Browse the "Nearby Lawyers" platform would be advised to conduct their own due diligence, perhaps by scheduling a consultation, to assess their comfort level with the firm's approach, communication style, and specific experience relevant to their case.
