When considering a legal professional, the environment can play a role in client comfort and confidence.

We have access to two detailed online reviews providing critical perspectives on the services of Bennett Jeffrey S. It is crucial to consider these experiences when evaluating potential legal representation.

The first review comes from an individual who identifies as a tenant at a condo managed by FPI. This tenant states they were informed that Jeff Bennett represented them in some capacity. The reviewer recounts attempting to contact Mr. Bennett multiple times via phone, leaving several messages, but allegedly never received a response, not even an email acknowledging receipt of their communication. Subsequently, the tenant called again, explaining their situation to the front desk and, following instructions to ask for Lindsay or Donna in case of urgency, requested to speak with either of them due to concerns about their future rental lease. The reviewer claims to have been transferred to Mr. Bennett's voicemail repeatedly, even by Donna. When the tenant called back, they allege that Donna became irritated. According to the review, Donna confirmed that Mr. Bennett had received the previous messages but had not responded. The reviewer further describes Donna allegedly interrupting them and repeatedly asking if they wished to be transferred to voicemail, each time louder, which the reviewer perceived as intimidating. Drawing on their experience as an insurance broker with a high standard of customer care, the reviewer characterized this interaction as "the most horrifying display of customer care I have ever experienced in any field, bar none." This individual explicitly states they would not recommend Jeffrey Bennett and claims to know "several" halfway competent and decent attorneys within Portland.

The second review is more extensive and makes serious allegations against Jeff Bennett, identifying him as a lawyer primarily representing landlords. This reviewer claims that Mr. Bennett and his associates "churn out eviction notices" and have, in their personal experience, "either carelessly or blatantly disregarded Oregon and Portland Tenant Landlord Laws by not doing their due diligence in researching the causes for the evictions they sign off on." The reviewer emphasizes that this is not just one disgruntled former tenant but claims to have witnessed Mr. Bennett's firm engaging in this behavior with "multiple Portlanders." Based on their "personal, factual, verifiable opinion," the reviewer suggests that if one receives an eviction notice signed by Jeffrey Bennett, they should "start digging into your records and call the Portland Tenants Union," stating that if their "sample size is reflective of the whole, there’s a 100% chance it’s invalid" (in their carefully considered opinion).

The reviewer also offers advice to landlords, urging them to "do better for your tenants by hiring someone that doesn’t have the bedside manner of a drill Sargent with kidney stones" (in their educated opinion), using this analogy to describe a documented personal experience with Mr. Bennett. The reviewer explicitly states that their claims are "truthful and verifiable personal experience" and asserts that their Google opinion review cannot be deemed false simply because Mr. Bennett dislikes its content.

An edit to this review provides further context. The reviewer identifies themselves as the "challenging tenant" who was allegedly being illegally evicted. They state that Mr. Bennett's law firm ultimately "did the right thing and told your client to revoke that notice and take the illegal, unnamed fees off my account." The reviewer also mentions that the landlord in question was replaced immediately following this incident, suggesting the validity of their initial concerns. They refute a claim made in a response (presumably from Mr. Bennett or his firm) that they were among other tenants evicted for nonpayment of rent, asserting they have never been evicted for this reason and that "Anna Wilson" is a common name, implying a misidentification or a potentially misleading statement in the response. The reviewer concludes by referencing the Oregon State Bar's opinion on responding to negative online comments and reviews, suggesting that Mr. Bennett's responses to reviews are not beneficial to his reputation.

Based on the information available, the services of Bennett Jeffrey S appear to heavily involve representing landlords in eviction proceedings. However, the critical reviews raise significant concerns about the thoroughness and legality of these proceedings, as well as the customer service provided by the office staff.

Features of Bennett Jeffrey S, as perceived through the lens of the provided reviews, could be interpreted as a focus on high-volume eviction services for landlords. However, potential clients should carefully consider the allegations of disregard for tenant rights and the reported negative experiences with customer service and communication.

No promotional information is available for Bennett Jeffrey S based on the provided text. Given the nature of the reviews, it would be advisable for potential clients, whether landlords or tenants seeking legal counsel, to conduct thorough due diligence. This might include seeking opinions from other sources, checking with the Oregon State Bar, and carefully considering the implications of the reported experiences before engaging Mr. Bennett's services.

In conclusion, the information available regarding Bennett Jeffrey S, located on NE Glisan Street in Portland, OR, presents a concerning picture based on the detailed negative reviews from individuals who have interacted with him or his firm. While the office appears to focus on representing landlords in eviction cases, serious allegations have been made regarding the firm's practices and customer service. Local users in Portland seeking legal representation, whether landlords or tenants, should carefully consider this information and conduct thorough research before deciding whether to contact Bennett Jeffrey S for their legal needs. The provided reviews strongly suggest caution and the importance of exploring alternative legal counsel within the Portland area.

I am a tenant at a condo managed by FPI, and was told Jeff was the one representing us. I called and left several messages, never receiving so much as an email that they got my message and were working on a potential update. I then called again, explaining my situation politely to their front desk, and was transferred to his voicemail several times (which explains to ask for Lindsay or Donna in case of urgency.) As I happen to be unaware of my future rental lease situation in the coming month, I considered it to be a rather urgent matter, so I asked for either of those ladies. I proceed to be transferred to his voicemail by Donna yet again, who then got irritated with me when I called back. First, she confirmed that Jeff did indeed receive my last messages, he just wasn’t responding. She then kept interrupting me asking if I would like to be transferred to his voicemail, and said it louder every time, as if that may bestow an intimidating difference. I happen to be an insurance broker, and can tell you my customer standard of care is bending over backwards for clients who need something. This was the most horrifying display of customer care I have ever experienced in any field, bar none. If you’d like a recommendation for a halfway competent and decent attorney, I can name several within Portland, but unfortunately, Jeffrey Bennett is not one of them.

Jeff Bennett is a lawyer for landlords. As he and his associates churn out eviction notices*, they have (in my personal experience) either carelessly or blatantly disregarded Oregon and Portland Tenant Landlord Laws** by not doing their due diligence in researching the causes for the evictions they sign off on.*** This is not one ex tenant who holds a grudge. I have witnessed Jeff Bennetts law firm do this to multiple Portlanders. (In my personal, factual, verifiable opinion) If you receive an eviction notice with Jeffery Bennett’s name signing off on it— start digging into your records and call the Portland Tenants Union. If my sample size is reflective of the whole, there’s a 100% chance it’s invalid. (In my carefully considered opinion). Landlords— do better for your tenants by hiring someone that doesn’t have the bedside manner of a drill Sargent with kidney stones***. (In my educated opinion). (This is all truthful and verifiable personal experience. This is a google opinion review and cannot be deemed false by Jeffrey Bennett just because he doesn’t like what it says.) *Churn is a subjective term and an accurate portrayal of how I imagine Jefferey Bennet and his associates are able to provide eviction services to unexpecting Portlanders on a regular basis. ** For any lawyers who may be diligently reading Jefferey Bennett’s Google reviews: These are the laws that are enacted by the Oregon State Government to inform both the public and the literate attorneys on the validity of, for example, eviction notices. *** An assumption formed through the careful consideration of any and all evidence I am currently aware of as of the writing of this review. ****The words “Drill Sargent with Kidney Stones” are being used as an analogy for a documemted experience I have personally had with Jeffery Bennett. It is a non-definable comparison that has neither positive nor negative connotations, dependent on each individuals likeness when considering the voice, actions, character, and absurdity of a Kidney Stone-plagued Drill Seargent. Edit: As for your response, yes I was the “challenging tenant” who was being illegally evicted. Luckily your law firm did the right thing and told your client to revoke that notice and take the illegal, unnamed fees off my account. In fact, that landlord was replaced immediately following this incident. So I think my frustration with being illegally evicted from my home was valid. I am not those other tenants you referred to, and I have never been evicted for nonpayment of rent. Anna Wilson is a common name. But you should know that. You know exactly what you’re doing by adding that false claim to your response. None of your responses to these reviews do you any favors. For your reference, check out the Oregon State Bar's opinion on this type of behavior: "FORMAL OPINION NO 2022-201 Responding to Negative Online Comments and Reviews" Summary: They don't recommend it.
