What a great experience I had with this team. They were so friendly, and very professional throughout my entire process with them as my representation. A. Traub And Associates is a great law firm. Jessica Wollrage-Rymut is a phenomenal Attorney. She is smart, detailed oriented and compasionate. She has handled 2 complex Estate cases and Legal Guardianship for me never missing a beat. Everyone in the office is nice and helpful including,Carol, Katie,Heather,Kirsten,Faye,Gel, And Luz.Its a Joy coming to this office, because everybody has a positive attitude. Highly recommend.
Angel was appointed a GAL in spring of 2024 for my wife's children in a parenting agreement dispute with their father. I will say up front that she ruled not in our favor, so take that into account as you read my review. I will try to be as unbiased as I can despite the outcome. I would be very accepting of a losing outcome for us if we received a thorough investigation that was based on multiple, well-researched lines of evidence that clearly pointed in their father's direction. But that was not the case. Instead we received an investigation worthy of a D-level junior high student. In her role as a GAL, to my knowledge she interviewed my wife once for about 45 minutes, the father (not sure on the time), and her assistant "interviewed" the children for one hour each, which to their account consisted of a few questions and playing Uno and other games for the rest of the time. She did not interview or gather any information from any of the following parties: myself, their father's long-term girlfriend, the children's brother, the children's therapist of two years, any friends or extended family members, or anyone otherwise involved in the past 8 years of the children's lives. She did not visit our home nor the father's home. According to the children's account, she did not ask them questions pertinent to finding out who they wanted to live with, why, or their relationships with either parent. Without any of this information to go by, what did she use in her ruling to determine the best interests of the children then? Well, she says it was based on interviewing the principal of the children's school, their teachers, and on researching the school districts closest to mom and dad and determining that the father's school district was better. She did not name a source nor metrics by which the schools were judged. Afterward, we looked up school rankings on the major reporting sites (USA News, Great Schools, and Illinois Report Card), and the two schools were comparable in most metrics. She delivered this information in an absolutist fashion, stating that, and this is nearly a direct quote, "School is a child's most important job. The school by the father's house are better, so that is where they will go. And I will have a hard time changing my mind about this." Of course school is important. But I'm not sure if Angel realizes it or not, but by such a statement, she is imposing her own value system in which school trumps all else onto others who may or may not share that perspective. This is a subjective feeling on my part, I'm not sure she even realizes this is what she is doing. I acknowledge that I may be missing some evidence that she used in her determination. But, she did not communicate any additional evidence during the ruling nor in written form before or afterwards. Nor did any emerge in the following months as my wife and her ex-husband settled the matter. The only credit I will give Angel is that she did acknowledge that it seemed like the children loved their mom, so she granted us extra days in the summer and on holidays despite the children going to school at their father's district and thus spending most of their time there. This whole experience leads me to one of three conclusions about Angel as a GAL: 1) she is lazy, or too busy (on calls she regularly complained about her packed schedule), and didn't put in the time to do a thorough investigation, 2) she thought her investigation was just fine and is incompetent or knows that there is no one to hold her accountable for a poor standard of work (certainly the judge did not), or 3) she was colluding with the father's lawyer, who she was self-admittedly friends with. Clearly, none of these conclusions reflect positively on Angel's work or her integrity in thoroughly investigating what is best for children as a GAL. To top it off, she made over ten thousand dollars from our case, very little of which in my opinion was earned. Stay away.
I have worked with Traub on a. Number of business and personal matters, and everyone has been amazing and great to work with. If only more law forms were so responsive and client focused, it would do much to improve people’s view of the legal profession as a whole. I will continue to bring my business and personal inquiries to Traub.
